What are the responsibilities and job description for the Corporate Council position at Peninsula Community Health Services?
The Corporate Counsel is responsible for assisting PCHS’ General Counsel in providing legal advice to PCHS and its officers and employees on a broad range of matters including labor and employment, privacy, real estate, intellectual property, and healthcare compliance.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Review and draft contracts, internal forms, and legal correspondence
- Develop and maintain healthcare compliance policies, procedures, and trainings
- Advise on state and federal healthcare regulatory compliance issues including HIPAA, 42 CFR Part 2, fraud/waste/abuse laws, and Medicare and Medicaid regulations
- Research issues in employment, real estate, privacy, and tax law, etc.
- Perform compliance audits
- Assist with implementation of Medical Legal Partnership
- Participate in grant writing
- Proficient in Westlaw, navigating the Washington Administrative Code, Revised Code of Washington, and Code of Federal Regulations
- Other duties as assigned

This position does not include supervisory responsibilities.
Qualifications
- Active license to practice law in Washington State
- 1-2 years’ experience with health law preferred
- Two to five years of customer service experience (preferred)

PCHS offers a wide variety of benefits through a customizable cafeteria plan. For pay equity purposes, PCHS calculates salaries based on a wage scale that incorporates a standardized approach to compensation. Accordingly, PCHS does not engage in salary negotiations for non-provider staff.
Range: $41.42 - $57.34

Work Environment and Physical Demands
With multiple locations and settings, PCHS’ work environment and physical demands vary greatly depending on the employee’s role. Essential job functions include the following: The employee is required to talk, hear, see, smell, sit, and stand. The employee is frequently required to move around the facility; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is frequently required to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Employees may be exposed to mechanical parts and moderate noise levels. Reasonable accommodations may be available to individuals with disabilities to perform their essential job functions.
