SUMMARY:

The Family Advocacy and Community Engagement Manager oversees and manages a Family Advocacy and Community Engagement coordinator team. This role involves providing leadership, guidance, and coordination to ensure effective outreach, support, and engagement with families and community partners. The Manager will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to enhance family services, coordinate transition events, maintain data systems, and develop policies and procedures. Additionally, this position will involve building and maintaining relationships with community agencies and partners to maximize access to childcare resources and support services.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supervise Family Advocacy and Community Engagement Coordinators team.
  • Mentor, train, and support coordinators in their roles and responsibilities.
  • Oversee the provision of information, referral, and coordination of efforts to link staff and families with appropriate childcare and family support resources.
  • Maintain and update data entry and collection systems by utilizing the Resource & Referral software database.
  • Coordinate transition events, including EHS-to-HS, HS-to-Kindergarten, CBO PreK-to-Kindergarten, and TK-to-Kindergarten, in collaboration with the Transition Supervisor and internal/external partners.
  • Plan and organize special recruitment events or activities.
  • Organize and conduct community outreach efforts to educate community families and partners on the benefits of quality childcare and child development.
  • Establish and maintain partnerships with community agencies to develop an up-to-date comprehensive list of childcare and support resources.
  • Develop and maintain Resource and referral requirements and policies to maximize family access to community resources and quality childcare services.
  • Provide training and technical assistance to large and small groups regarding Resource and referral services, quality care settings, child development, and licensing compliance.
  • Ensure accurate data compilation for reporting Resource and referral activities, improving service access, and developing capacity-building and childcare provider education.
  • Maintain a partnership with Community Care Licensing to communicate provider needs and licensing status, providing accurate referrals in the Resource & Referral database.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and community partners to plan and implement the Child Development Resource & Referral program.
  • Ability to travel throughout Peninsula Family Services’ service area when necessary.
  • Provides training and technical assistance to large and small groups regarding Resource and referral services, quality care settings, child development, and licensing compliance.
  • Partners with community agencies to develop an up-to-date comprehensive list of resources to share with community partners, staff, families, and childcare providers.

Requirements

Experience:

  • Experience working with children, three to five. 
  • 3 years supervisory experience 
  • Prefer experience working with low-income families in an urban setting. 
  • Work experience demonstrating the ability to work well with community service agencies, complete child development assessments, and conduct home visits.
  • Prefer work experience in child development or related service area.

Skills/Other:

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. 
  • Ability to provide a range of early childhood training and coaching. 
  • Knowledge of current research trends in early childhood. 
  • Demonstrate a passion for assisting families from diverse, multicultural, and at-risk backgrounds.
  • Build relationships with families through learning and collaboration. 
  • Assist in equipping parents to set and achieve their own goals towards security. 
  • Help children and families identify and achieve intentional and individual goals. 
  • Strong teamwork, interpersonal communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated mental/physical ability and stamina for meeting the position's essential duties and the ability to travel in the service area and out-of-town meetings and conferences. 
  • Ability to work a flexible workday and work week. 
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions in accordance with board policies and established administrative guidelines.
