Job Title: SETTS (Special Education) Teacher
Reports to: Principal / Assistant Principal
Responsibilities:
Instructional Strategies
- Work cooperatively with colleagues (i.e. Classroom teacher, ENL teacher,other Support Services, etc.) to adapt materials and differentiate instruction
- Plan, prepare and deliver lesson plans and instructional materials that implement IEP goals and strategies into a student’s learning experience
- Work cooperatively with classroom teachers to adapt materials and implement different strategies through curricular modifications, instructional techniques to ensure the entire class can participate
- Use pull-out, push-in, small group, and one-on-one instruction when implementing strategies to differentiate instruction for all learners in the classroom
- Collaborate with students, parents, and other members of staff to develop IEP goals
- Use relevant technology to support and differentiate instruction
- Intellectually engage students during the delivery of lessons using Webb’s Depth of Knowledge, to inspire curiosity, reinforce the joy of learning, and enable all students to thrive

Students Growth and Development
- Provide small group instructional services to students with IEPs in the areas of reading, writing, mathematics, social studies, and science
- Follow through with prescribed instructional delivery methods as determined by the student’s IEP
- Use student work and assessment data to inform instruction, targeted intervention that drives student achievement, and V
- Conduct ongoing assessment of student achievement through formal and informal assessments
- Support students and school needs in preparing to be successful in on the NYS State Exam
- Maintain proper documentation to comply with state and NYC regulations (i.e.,complete IEP Progress Reports for each student, etc)
- Collaborate with general education teachers, school leaders, and families to analyze, respond to trends in student work and assessments, and ensure compliance with Individualized Education Plans and meet students needs
- Provide appropriate feedback on student work/assessment and set goals for improvement
- Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students and adjust classroom instruction as needed
- Implement assessments that measure progress towards academic standards;
- Maintain and accurately report student progress and development
Communication
- Establish and maintain open communication by conducting conferences with parents, students, and supervisors
- Maintain a professional level of confidentiality concerning personal information
- Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly
- Maintain a professional relationship with colleagues, students, parents, and community members
- Develop meaningful relationships with students and families to create investment in school culture and academics
Other
- Know the school’s vision
- Ensure that your instructional practice is aligned with the school’s vision and incorporate them into your work
- Meet professional obligations through efficient work habits such as: meeting deadlines, honoring schedules and collaborating with co teachers and colleagues
- Demonstrate preparation and skill in working with students from diverse cultural, economic, and ability backgrounds
- Participate in an annual two week preservice
- Have intellectual curiosity that motivates you to master new skills and to embrace the opportunity for continual growth and improvement through regular feedback and coaching that helps you achieve your goals
- Supports the goals of the school and follows school policies
- Performs any other duties as assigned by the appropriate supervisor
- Participate in grade level, school meetings, and other school events
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in Special Education from an accredited university
- Must hold NYS Teaching Certification Students with Disabilities Childhood 1 - 6
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $70,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
