PRIMARY FUNCTION:

Handle all aspects of bill rating, correction and adjustment consistent with NMFC tariff regulations and Peninsula Truck approved pricing negotiated with customers. Provide prompt and accurate quotes to customers, sales and internal staff. Rate and adjust bills for Peninsula customers. Assist co-workers and other Peninsula staff as needed to achieve excellence in every transaction and superior customer service.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Read and understand Peninsula's Mission, Vision and Guiding Principles. Perform duties accordingly at all times.
2. Read and understand Peninsula's 100 Rules Tariff and its application to accurate rating of shipments.
3. Understand NMFC tariff rules and regulations, and employ them consistently and accurately as needed to deliver properly rated bills to Peninsula's customers.
4. Apply Peninsula negotiated contract rating with customers correctly and accurately to achieve properly rated shipments/billing for our accounts.
5. Maintain an assigned error percentage at 1% or less of total work volume processed.
6. Review and correct items assigned to correction work queue daily, handling them consistent with the requests made and Peninsula policy.
7. Function as the "rate expert" with relation to requests from sales, accounts and internal personnel. Be ready to question and clarify requests made to be sure we are doing the right thing consistent with #1 above.
8. Handle rate quotes (email and phone) from customers and Peninsula personnel promptly and quickly, maximizing the value of the call by balancing minimum phone time with maximum customer service, while securing all freight possible for Peninsula. (Targeted average call length maintained at 2.0 minutes.)
9. Handle calls, emails, internal questions, etc. related to the above as they come in, staying current with all work.
10. Maintain an average incoming call answer time of 90 seconds or less.
11. Maintain an average combined quote and other call handling time of 2.0 minutes or less.
12. Understand D83 and other interline split rules/functions in effect with Peninsula's Interline Partner Agreements, and be able to act as backup to Interline to apply these accurately as needed.
13. Miscellaneous other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Experience with manual and automated data entry, rating and freight bill processing systems and procedures.
2. Excellent customer service and communication skills, verbally and in writing.
3. Experienced keyboarding skills including typing at 55 wpm and 10-key/keypad by touch.
4. A working knowledge of personal computers and Windows-based software.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

1. 3 years LTL industry experience.
2. Minimum 2 years rating experience using NMFC and applicable tariffs, including interline division (D-83 splits).
3. 3 years direct customer service experience in a high-volume production environment

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Standard office environment. Seated at desk for long periods. Continuous phone use and computer interface interaction. Lift up to 30 pounds if needed. This a day shift M-F 8:30am- 5:00pm
