Equine Veterinary Technician/Assistant

Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Veterinary Technician (or non-licensed assistant) to join our team! As a Veterinary Technician/Assistant, you will play a crucial role in providing high-quality care to our equine patients and interact with our amazing clients! You will spend the majority of the time assisting veterinarians during farm calls, restocking trucks, performing basic laboratory tests and contributing wherever needed for the day.

Responsibilities:
- Assist veterinarians during farm calls
- Perform laboratory tests such as blood work and fecal analysis
- Prepare and administer medications as directed by veterinarians
- Take X-rays
- Provide horse restraint during procedures
- Help educate equine owners about medication administration, disease management
- Type medical records for the veterinarians (most of the time while driving in the passenger seat)
- Clean and sterilize equipment and instruments

Requirements:
- Veterinary Technician license is not required but a plus!
- Equine handling experience is a MUST; be able to lunge, lead, restrain and twitch if needed
- Basic knowledge of veterinary medicine and common equine diseases is a plus
- Strong communication skills with teammates and clients
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail (this is a must!)

- You must be a team player with a desire to help the group succeed
- Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment with changing schedules at times
- Ability to lift at least 50lb at times, this is a VERY physically demanding position at times

- Ability to multitask is a MUST; must be able to type in the car!

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $17.00 - $23.00 per hour

Expected hours: 36 – 40 per week
