Basic Purpose and Objective
The Controls Engineer position will be responsible for improving the effectiveness of the workforce by developing and implementing process improvement projects in operations and developing standard processing procedures in the plant. This position will require the design, implementation and startup of these control systems, which involves the application of advanced computer/PLC/HMI programming, electrical controls knowledge and process engineering skills. Contributes to and leads small project teams to ensure the successful completion of team objectives. Requires close collaboration with operations staff during the design process to troubleshoot and resolve problems during construction or installation.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
- Drive safety that ensures compliance with all EH&S and OSHA regulations
- Analyze plant processes, design and implement improvements
- Troubleshooting issues with hardware and processes
- Plant and equipment preventative maintenance
- Coordinates with others in order to determine problems and implement solutions
- Provides technical assistance as needed by internal customers
- Inspect systems to ensure they meet safety regulations
