Finance executive responsible for establishing, implementing, and coordinating accounting systems; assuring the existence of and adherence to operating procedures for accounting and related activities; coordinating the compliance with regulatory policy relating to accounting systems and practices; preparing financial reports; supervising assigned accounting personnel.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage the accounting department to serve internal customers with consistent and superior customer service.
- Provide leadership by example and ensure that all accounting personnel are trained and coached to exceed performance goals
- Ensure adherence with compliance and risk management standards.
- Supervises all accounting functions of the Bank.
- Own and implement sound FDICIA controls and processes to adequately support regulatory reporting requirements.
- Assists in establishing and monitoring internal controls throughout various departments.
- Responsible for ensuring department transformation with technology and automation of processes.
- Monitors new regulatory reporting guidelines and recommends solutions based on sound interpretation that’s applicable to the Bank.
- Responsible for financial reporting, financial analysis, and cash management.
- Documents the Bank’s investment accounting activities. Analyzes changes to the portfolio. Responsible for board reporting and documentation.
- Supervises the preparation of, and reviews the call report, and any other regulatory reporting.
- Assures that accounting procedures are in compliance with generally accepted accounting principles.
- Coordinates the daily balancing and reconciliation of the general ledger, preparation of payroll, and accounts payable functions.
- Promote internal communications with all Bank departments to ensure quality and consistency in the accounting service offering.
- Represent and promote favorable image and uphold the Bank reputation through involvement in community activities.
- Other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Manage, direct and coordinate all accounting activities and personnel. Set performance expectations.
- Carry out managerial responsibilities in accordance with Bank policies and applicable federal and state laws.
- Responsible for training employees; appraising performance; coaching employees to exceed performance expectations; problem resolution.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in accounting, finance, or related field or equivalent experience, CPA Preferred
- Five years of experience in a financial institution or related environment as a staff accountant
- Excellent knowledge of financial institution accounting, tax, auditing, operations, and standards of policy
- Demonstrated superior customer service, high-level analytical and communication skills.
- Demonstrated leadership and managerial success in coaching, motivating, and developing employees
- Excellent organizational and time management/prioritization skills
- Good computer skills
- Job requires the ability to see fine print on printed material as well as small lettering on a computer screen.
- Job requires the ability to hear and listen to customers in person and on the telephone and clearly communicate with the customer.
- Job requires general minimal lifting to 30 lbs.
- Job requires: keystroke finger abilities, bending or stretching for short periods of time.
- Job may require working evenings and Saturdays. Job may require local travel between branches or offsite travel for training.
