General Summary statement:

This position is responsible for the planning, organizing, directing, and controlling resources plus program delivery of Physical Rehabilitation Services (Physical, Occupational, and Speech Therapy) throughout TCCH and Health System. The general tasks throughout the in- and outpatient cost centers include developing and implementing policies and procedural controls, quality improvement, compliance, competency assessment, patient care, budget development and control, personnel administration, and procurement.

  • The areas of responsibility include: the Inpatient Physical Rehabilitation services for med-surg., the NICU, PINU, ICU, tele, ED, and SCU units; the current Outpatient centers at Fern Hill, in Exton, and Kennett Square.
  • This position is responsible for the preparation and maintenance of the operating

and capital budgets in the estimated amount of $20,000,000.

  • This person helps establish, identify and ensure systems function and to promote patient safety and safe practices for delivering patient care. The director manages all Physical Rehabilitation equipment, vendors, and contracts.
  • This person utilizes input from the medical director and the medical staff in general regarding policies and procedures, operational activities that effect care, and equipment suggestions. This person takes remedial action to resolve or improve deficient operational conditions or problems, changes in work patterns, and / or personnel and patients issues.
  • This person analyzes department performance in relation to established goals, implements change to effect continual improvement in services provided, and ensures compliance with all internal and external standards as well as regulatory and legal requirements. They would ensure compliance with Joint Commission, State, and Federal regulatory agencies, monitor Press Ganey Survey results and internal patient satisfaction surveys and develop action plans as well as acknowledge positive results.

EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE;

CERTIFICATION / LICENSURE;

SPECIAL EQUIPMENT, SKILLS, OR REQUIREMENTS


  • Entry level degree in Physical, Occupational, or Speech Therapy; Masters degree preferred;
  • 4 – 6 years of management experience in a health care setting;
  • Licensed in the state of Pennsylvania for your specific profession required;
  • Knowledge of acute care rehabilitation services and a keen knowledge of outpatient physical rehabilitation (Physical, Occupational, and Speech Therapies);

Ability to analyze operational data, implement employee approved management techniques, and obtain maximum effectiveness and efficiency; effectively coordinate various department functions and activities for maximum operation and efficiency; direct, instruct and advise supervisors in the approved methods, procedures, and practices of program function and patient management.

Ability to react to day to day issues and interpret established policies into operational procedures. Ability to work effectively and establish working relationships with employees, vendors, medical staff, and the public.

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND HAZARDS

This person works in a well lit office 80 % of the time. He/she would stand and walk intermittently throughout the day. Travel from the office to/from the hospital requires driving multiple times every month. Travel to/from the various outpatient cost centers requires driving multiple times every month.
