Assistant Director of Marketing

JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Penn State Intercollegiate Athletics is seeking an Assistant Director of Marketing for a variety of Varsity Sports Programs. This position will report to the Director of Marketing and will serve as the primary marketing contact with supervision and management of all efforts and initiatives for Baseball, Women’s Gymnastics, Men’s Gymnastics, Fencing and Men’s Soccer as well as a role with Football.

The primary duties for this position will include:

• Assisting the efforts with all marketing and promotions, implementing and executing game day and event marketing strategies for events.
• Monitoring and collaborating on social media efforts and grassroots campaigns to increase brand recognition and awareness.
• Assisting in the supervision of events to ensure coordinated event details are completed.
• Assist in the hiring, training, and supervision of any marketing employees as well as direct supervision of marketing interns.
• This position will attend and actively contribute to the Athletic Department Marketing staff meetings and provide feedback, make recommendations on new policies, procedures, programs, and services for continual financial improvement, and perform other duties as assigned.

The ideal candidate should have knowledge of athletic marketing and promotions, ticket sales, community relations, social media, in-game management, and be able to successfully and efficiently manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Because of the nature of athletic schedules, the selected candidate may be required to work flexible hours to meet the various demands of the operation. Excellent interpersonal communication skills, both written and oral, as well as exceptional customer service skills are essential for this position.

Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher plus 2 years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

This position requires the following publicly-available clearances: Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Background Check, Pennsylvania Child Abuse History and Federal (FBI) Fingerprint Criminal Background Check. T his position requires that you operate a motor vehicle as a part of your job duties. A valid driver’s license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required in addition to standard background checks.
