JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Penn State Executive Programs in the Smeal College of Business at The Pennsylvania State University (University Park, PA) is seeking an Assistant Director of Open Programs (ADOP) .
The Assistant Director will assume primary responsibility for the success of publicly available professional development programs offered through the Smeal College of Business at Penn State. The successful team member will be responsible for ensuring program quality, supporting faculty and instructors, and for establishing and growing relationships with learners. The Assistant Director of Open Programs will also have responsibility for executing against operational initiatives that support departmental programming quality and success. The Assistant Director will work as part of an integrated sales and operations team and will: drive public program implementation and performance; ensure the development and execution of efficient operational processes; act as the key team contact for specific strategic initiatives focused on future growth and innovation, and act as a key member of the unit leadership team.
- Provide leadership for the implementation of the public programming portfolio
- Collaborate with team to ensure seamless, high quality program execution and customer satisfaction
- Direct enrollment management and professional certificate attainment for learners and corporate teams
- Leverage data to generate portfolio projections, quality measures, and provide market insight
- Actively collaborate with marketing to provide market insight and targeted insight to improve conversation rates
- Develop and implement a plan to leverage marketing efforts and maximize leads generated; cultivate contacts from organizations sponsoring repeat learners
- Perform as short-course program manager (host) for public short courses held on campus or online
- Lead the implementation of assigned operational imperatives critical to the success of the department, inc: technology project, marketing assignments, and related
The ideal candidate should have the following characteristics:
- Experience working within executive education, commercial training, consulting, or a related field
- Collaborative approach to partnering with subject matter experts to deliver high quality programs
- Open to innovation and change in a rapidly evolving market
- Comfortable with technology, including: Salesforce, Zoom, WebEx, Microsoft tools, and common learning platforms
- Excellent communication skills – written, verbal, and presentation
- Natural team player with the ability to engage with learners from every leadership level
- Strong project and program management orientation
- Ability to work both autonomously and within a team
- Energy, drive and an entrepreneurial spirit and approach to work
This job will be filled at a level commensurate with the successful candidate's competencies, education, and experience. Typically requires a Masters degree plus three years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
