Description
This position starts June 17th through August 16th with a week of training June 3-7th 5pm-9pm.
The schedule is up to 40 hours per week and may rotate between the hours of 7:30am-5:30pm
The pay is $18/hour, if you obtain your lifeguard certification, you'll receive an additional $1/hour.
POSITION SUMMARY:
Provides direct supervision of a group of children in a seasonal day camp. Provides a quality experience to children and parents focused on YMCA core values: honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Supervises a group of children.
- Plans and implements program activities that are culturally relevant, developmentally appropriate and consistent with YMCA values.
- Adheres to program standards including safety and cleanliness standards.
- Attends staff meetings and trainings.
- Follows YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention and emergencies.
- Cultivates positive relationships and maintains effective communication with parents, children and other staff. Models relationship-building skills in all interactions.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Previous experience working with children in a day camp setting, preferred.
- Experience preferred in one or more of the following areas: outdoor living, camping, songs/music, skits, sports, aquatics, recreational games, arts/crafts, etc…
- At least 16 years of age (The age minimum may be higher depending on state law and YMCA policies.)
- CPR, First Aid, AED certifications and Child Abuse Prevention training within 30 days of hire date.
