Work with Infants and Toddlers (ages 6 weeks to 3 years)
Penquis, a social services agency serving Penobscot, Piscataquis, and Knox counties for over 50 years, has two (2) openings for an Early Head Start/Child Care Assistant Teacher in the Greater Bangor area. Both positions are full time 40 hours/52 weeks per year with benefits eligible.
Location: Bangor, Maine
Penquis Child Development will pay for newly hired staff to obtain appropriate credentials or continued educational opportunities. This position is responsible for infants/toddlers (ages 6 weeks to 3 years) in a child care setting, developing and administering developmentally appropriate activities, including individual prescriptive programs for children with special needs. This position requires an Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Education with a focus on Infant/Toddler. Preferred qualifications will be a Bachelor’s Degree and at least one-year paid experience in working with infants/toddlers. (Appropriate practicum experience may be substituted for two years paid experience in an early education/child care setting).
The starting rate of pay for the Assistant Teacher position is $16.17 per hour and additional compensation may be given consideration with relevant experience. Sign on Incentive of $5000 Available – $1000 payable after successful completion of 2 months, $1500 payable after the successful completion of 6 months, $2500 payable after successful completion of one year of employment. Must be hired before October 1, 2022. Eligible upon hire, new employees in our Early Child Care programs who work 24-40 hours per week, will receive a $200 monthly incentive.
Upon hire and periodically thereafter, must comply with Penquis background check requirements with satisfactory results as outlined in current contract provisions.
