You will be working with a team of experts to develop, maintain, and support our cutting-edge mobile device community and Mobile Device Management (MDM) solutions.
What You Will Be Doing
As a Penske Systems Engineer - Mobile you will be providing day-to-day support of the company’s mobile device community and MDM solutions. You will work closely with cross functional teams, including department leaders, project managers, software engineers, and quality assurance professionals, to deliver high quality mobile solutions to the organization. You will manage and coordinate the implementation of multiple projects that have large scale department or division-wide impact. You will also be responsible for supporting and maintaining the security of the devices, connectivity, authentication, maintenance, and reporting on the MDM solutions.
Systems Engineers can provide advanced technical support for desktop, mobile, server, and networking issues. A Systems Engineer is a professional who designs, develops, and manages complex systems that involve multiple components and technologies. Systems Engineers ensure all IT services are properly maintained and upgraded, including provisioning, security, backups, maintenance, and patching. Systems Engineers provide subject matter expertise for both hardware and software.
Penske Responsibilities
- Act as a consultant to the business regarding mobility best practices
- Design, develop, and maintain mobile systems architecture for optimal performance and scalability for a given project
- Manage or co-manage and coordinate the implementation of multiple projects that have department or division-wide implications and impact.
- Responsible for the creation of project plans, timelines, milestones, goals and ownership
- Conduct thorough testing and debugging to ensure the reliability and stability of mobile systems
- Participate in problem solving, analytical, communication, and teamwork skills to achieve successful outcomes
- Provide technical direction to IT support staff
- Manages and monitors all installed systems and infrastructure for the organization to be in line with company guidelines and standard operating procedure.
- Assists coordinating the testing and evaluation from different teams to develop and implement
- Installs, configures, and tests operating systems, application software, and system management tools.
- Ensures the highest level of systems and infrastructure availability.
- Provide day-to-day support of the company’s mobile device community and MDM solutions
- Support and maintain the security of the devices, connectivity, authentication
- Work closely with the Penske business units and ensure the business problem is aligned with the correct mobile solution
- Work closely with the Desktop Services team, Networking team, Data Communications team, and Telecomm team
- Plan and execute DR testing and maintain detailed documentation of the MDM infrastructure.
- Participate in the long-term planning of the mobility environment and perform periodic reviews of maintenance contracts to ensure the company is not at risk.
- Participate in after-hours tasks such as on-call responsibilities and organizational outage windows.
- Develop, implement, and maintain internal policies & procedures
- Ensure proper asset management, including life cycle management and related documentation
- Provides “ownership” of problem thru final resolution.
- Plan, acquire, and coordinate installation of in-house and remote hardware and software across the organization.
- Participate in research and make recommendations on server products, services, protocols, and standards in support of server procurement and development efforts.
- Design system field test cases, generate test reports and recommend areas of optimization
- Work within a team and take responsibility for high bandwidth wireless system architecture
- Meet with suppliers to select core technologies
Penske Qualifications
- Associate degree in Information Technology, Computer Engineering or related field preferred. If no degree, then at least 3 years of specific (function) administration experience required.
- Minimum of 2 years of system engineering, IT support, or equivalent
- Minimum of 2 years Workspace ONE or Microsoft Intune experience
- MDM certification preferred
- 1-2 years of project management (including mid-to-large scale projects, and managing multiple projects at one time)
- Extensive knowledge of mobile technologies, platforms, operating systems (such as iOS and Android), and device capabilities
- Experience working with popular MDM platforms such as Microsoft Intune, VMware Workspace One, MobileIron, or IBM MaaS360
- Expertise in provisioning and configuring mobile devices, including managing device settings, profiles, and policies
- Knowledge of app distribution methods, app management frameworks, and app store policies for managing and deploying mobile applications
- Familiarity with the mobile device lifecycle, including device enrollment, inventory management, asset tracking, and retirement/disposal processes
- Experience in troubleshooting mobile device issues, diagnosing connectivity problems, and providing technical support to end-users
- Understanding of network protocols, VPN configurations and Wi-Fi
- Ability to integrate MDM solutions with other enterprise systems, such as identity and access management (IAM), ticketing systems, HR systems, etc. using APIs or connectors
- Prior experience and expertise of the PTL portfolio of products in use
- Excellent verbal communication and technical writing skills
- Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job.
