Self Determination Assistant position Available in Self Directed Services
I use an electric wheelchair and I'm looking for someone to work with me on weekends and is available to pick up shifts occasionally during the week or in the evenings for special events or activities. As my staff you will not be financially responsible for these events. Tickets or entrance fees are usually purchased ahead of time. Staff will be reimbursed for any out of pocket costs involved while working with me such as meals. I have my own wheelchair van for staff to use. I require assistance with things such as, but not limited to hygiene, budgeting skills, time management, developing and maintaining healthy relationships, transportation to desired destinations, using my walker, socializing with my friends, and working on personal goals.
Experience working with the disabled preferred but not required. Current People Inc employees encouraged to apply.
Requirements include: Valid NYS driver's license with clean driving record. Reliable transportation to and from the van location, High School Diploma or GED.
About me: I like the WWE and try to see them when they're in town. I like hockey and try to get to a game or two every year. I like the Buffalo Bandits and enjoy attending games. I'm a sports fan in general and participate in the Special Olympics for basket ball, softball, track and swimming. I am part of SABAH (ice skating) and perform in their show every year. I love music and live concerts. I live an active lifestyle and would like to try new things within my community, where my staff would be with me for support.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $17.00 - $18.00 per hour
