*This is for our client, VehicleHistory, you can check them out here*
We are a high-traffic automotive website recruiting for a Proofreader/Editorial Assistant with solid copy editing, proofreading, and copy formatting experience. You should also have WordPress experience, know AP Style, and be comfortable dividing your time between copy editing, formatting copy, rewriting posts, fact-checking, and sometimes handling all of these things at once.
You don’t have to know how to change your own oil, but you are required to know if Hemi is capped or not, and if a proper name like X Æ A-12 is spelled correctly. You also are required to format blog copy in WordPress and must already know how to:
- set links
- resize and add photos
- bold and italicize copy
Here are a few other important requirements we'd like to see reflected in your previous work:
- proven 2 to 3 years of WordPress experience using the backend
- minimum 3 years of digital proofreading and/or editing experience
- able to understand complex concepts, quickly adapt, and dive right in
- 1 to 2 years experience juggling roles as proofreader, editor, and administrator
Availability: This is a remote freelance opportunity. We'll need you to join our Slack room online and be immediately available to accept proofing/formatting/editing tasks. We work 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. PT, and you’d need to be available on a set schedule three days a week for three or four hours. We have a lot of work to get done and a fast production house. If you adapt to the role quickly, the work is fun and interesting and the opportunities are limitless.
Please send over a resume detailing your relevant experience along with links to your work or digital portfolio. We pay competitive rates and are seeking an experienced editorial professional for this part-time freelance opportunity.
