Our client combines its advanced adhesives and wood product technologies with state-of-the-art manufacturing capabilities to produce premium structural wood panel products. They are looking to add a Production Manager to their fast-growing team!
Position Summary
To provide leadership, direction, and guidance so that Production Department personnel can function as a high-performing team within a strong ethical culture in the most efficient manner to meet customer demands. This process includes the entire production line from crane to sanding.
Duties & Responsibilities
· Provides leadership and training to Production Supervisors so that a common understanding of goals and expectations between production crews is developed and common goals are achieved.
· Directs, coordinates, and appraises the performance of the Production Supervisors so that the operations and resources of the Production Department are maximized and quality, safety, housekeeping, and environmental standards are met.
· Coaches and develops Production Supervisors to ensure that employees in the Production Department are motivated to improve technical and interpersonal work-related skills, identify problem areas, and develop creative and cost-efficient solutions to problems.
· Coordinates the work of the Production Department with other Departments in the plant, such as Maintenance, Warehouse, and Purchasing, to ensure the most efficient operation of key equipment and prevent unnecessary downtime.
· Assists in developing annual and long-range plans. Works with engineering and other professionals to budget and forecast future business plans. Provide input to Engineering for new project requests, purchases, and installation.
· Implements and maintains Preventive Maintenance Programs in the Production Department
· Provide direction to Production Supervisors to ensure that Production Department personnel efficiently and effectively monitor plant equipment, identify equipment problems, and contribute to problem resolution.
· Maintain an updated knowledge of all Plant processing equipment and know and understand the mechanical functioning and maintenance procedures of this equipment.
· Communicate directly with the production scheduler to effectively schedule customer needs, utilizing the most effective scheduling of plant equipment and people, and resolve customer complaints and questions.
· Provides direction, development, and leadership so that plant personnel are developed and trained in the most efficient, productive, and safe manner to perform their jobs and prepared to progress into successively higher-level positions within the organization.
· Participates in new hire interviewing and selection process for hourly employees for the Production and other Departments in the Shuqualak Plant. Keeps Production Department staffing within budget.
· Monitors the performance of the Production Department. Reviews and approves performance appraisals, commendations, and disciplinary actions prepared by Production Supervisors.
· Work closely with Research and Development to implement pilot programs for new product development.
· Performs general physical activities that require considerable use of arms and legs, moving whole body and multilimbed coordination
Requirements & Preferred Competencies
· B.S in Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, or Chemical Engineering and six or more years of experience in a manufacturing environment
· Ability to apply mechanical reasoning skills
· Must have experience in Six Sigma, Statistics, or SPC
· Knowledge of plant processing and equipment (wood products a plus)
· Ability to use spreadsheets and word-processing software.
· Familiar with plant automation systems
