The pay rate for this job is $43.50 / hour
What you'll be doing as a Generator Technician Electrical Engineer:
- Hours: 7:30am - 8hr days Install, inspect, test, and commission electrical generators in compliance with manufacturer specifications, industry standards, and local codes.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as oil and filter changes, coolant flushes, and battery checks, to ensure the optimal performance of generators.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot generator malfunctions, electrical and mechanical issues, and perform necessary repairs or component replacements.
- Conduct load bank testing and other performance tests to verify the efficiency and reliability of generators.
- Maintain accurate records of service activities, including detailed reports on maintenance, repairs, and replacements performed.
- Respond to emergency service calls and resolve generator issues in a timely and efficient manner to minimize downtime for clients.
- Collaborate with clients, contractors, and other team members to understand project requirements, provide technical support, and ensure customer satisfaction.
- Stay up-to-date with industry advancements, emerging technologies, and best practices in generator maintenance and repair Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines to promote a safe working environment and prevent accidents or injuries.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring proper storage and handling of tools, equipment, and materials.
- Troubleshooting, diagnosing and repairing electrical and mechanical failures with generators, transfer switches and equipment of natural gas/diesel generators.
- Replacing mechanical and oil seals and air compressors; inspects valves, injection pumps, injectors and related components.
- Working with diesel generators, gas generators and propane-powered units.
- Ensuring reliable operation of power generation systems.
- Providing uninterrupted power supply to clients throughout the region
Job requirements:
- Requires strong technical knowledge, troubleshooting abilities High school diploma or equivalent qualification.
- Additional technical certifications or vocational training in electrical or mechanical engineering is preferred.
- Proven experience as a Generator Technician or in a similar role, demonstrating expertise in generator installation, maintenance, and repair.
- Strong knowledge of electrical systems, generators, and associated components, including control panels, wiring, voltage regulators, and transfer switches.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting electrical and mechanical diagrams, blueprints, and technical manuals.
- Familiarity with generator diagnostic tools, testing equipment, and software for troubleshooting and analysis.
- Ability to identify, diagnose, and resolve generator malfunctions and mechanical issues effectively.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with attention to detail and a methodical approach to tasks.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with clients, team members, and other stakeholders.
- Physical stamina and dexterity to perform tasks that may involve lifting heavy equipment, working in confined spaces, and climbing ladders.
- Must have all required tools and proper PPE gear.
- Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
- Background check will be required.
