What are the responsibilities and job description for the Pepsi - Tell Sell / Pre Seller position at Pepsi Corbin KY?

PURPOSE:

To deliver product to full service vending accounts and smaller pre-sell accounts in the most efficient and cost effective way possible to maximize sales, and following all food safety rules that apply to delivery.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

1. Must report for work at 5:30 am each work day, check the load on their truck that to make sure it is correct according to the load sheet which was provided to the loading crew. This must be verified with route manager before they leave the truck lot. Sales person must be able to use a hand held computer which holds the information for the loads going out and invoices for the customer accounts.

2. Must be physically fit to climb into and out of the cab of a delivery truck several times per day, and be able to drive both a Class B and a Class A type vehicle with a valid Class A CDL license. Must do a pre-trip and post-trip inspection of the truck every day so that it remains in good driving condition at all times.

3. Each route may deliver from 100 to 300 cases of soft drinks per day, and each person must take the cases of soft drinks out of the bays of the route trucks by hand. Cases weigh from 21 to 45 lbs each. To reach the cases, the driver must step up into the bay, and pull the cases from the top portion of the pallet, step back from the bay, place the case onto a two-wheel dolly and repeat that process until they have removed all of the cases they need for that account from the truck and taken them into the account. This will usually require several trips from the truck into the account depending on how many cases they may need. Depending upon the weight and size of the cases, approximately 10 cases of 12 oz cans, or 6 cases of 20 oz NRs are the maximum allowed per trip. Some drivers may have to carry fewer cases due to the overall weight.

4. Full Service accounts may require the driver to carry cases up stairs to reach a vending machine on a second floor. The driver may carry cases by hand or by pulling them up stairs with the dolly. All drivers may have to push the loaded dolly up ramps or pull them up over curbs to get them inside the account. A dolly loaded with cases of drinks will weigh over two hundred pounds.

5. Drivers who fill vending machines must take accurate meter readings from the machines and remove the money each time they service the machine. The machine should be checked to make sure it is in good working order, if not, the driver should report the problem to the vending repair department.

6. When filling vending machines the driver must have good finger dexterity to grip each can or bottle and be able to place them in the correct flavor slots in the machines so that the customer gets the correct product they selected. To fill the machine the driver must bend to lift the case of product, balance it on their leg, while placing the product in the machine. This process is repeated at each machine and with each case of product.

7. Best Used By dates must be watched on each product and they must be rotated for freshness in each vending machine, cooler, or account that is worked. Any outdated product must be brought back to the plant for disposal. All empty shells should be returned to the plant, and contours or packaging disposed of properly.

All equipment should be cleaned regularly.

8. Upon returning to the plant, each load will be checked by the truck gate attendant, and verified with the driver. Any product that is returned must be accounted for on their load sheet. All money brought in from the account should be turned in to the cashier and verified for accuracy according to invoices and hand held computers.

9. After turning in their money to the cashier, the driver must prepare a load sheet to be left with the truck loading crew for delivery to the customers on the next day.

10. Each driver must meet all of the Department of Transportation requirements for a Class A Commercial Driver’s License, including keeping a current DOT medical physical and license. They must remain drug free and submit to pre-employment, random, reasonable suspicion and post accident drug and alcohol tests as required by law. They must abide by all traffic rules and regulations including no tailgating, running through yellow lights, passing in no passing zones, or speeding.

11. Each employee will be trained in Good Manufacturing Practices and Food Safety as it pertains to their position of delivering a safe product to the customers. They will also receive training in vehicle and driving safety, as well as, OSHA programs such as Hazard Communication, Bloodborne Pathogens, etc.; and various human relations training in such things as Sexual Harassment and Workplace Violence.
