Database Engineer

Responsibilities

Peraton is seeking a Database Engineer who will provide support in the areas of data extraction, transformation, and load (ETL), data mapping, analytical support, operational support, database support, and maintenance support of a large cloud-based data analytic system.

 

As a core member of a team of Data Engineers / Data Scientists / System Architects, the candidate responsibilities include:

• Designing, developing, and maintaining secure, consistent, and reliable ETL solutions supporting critical business processes across the various Business Units
• Ensuring data solutions are compliant with enterprise security standards
• Working in complex multi-platform environments on multiple project assignments
• Performing data quality verification and ETL processes to meet complex business requirements, including designing and implementing of end-to-end solutions using BI platforms like Power BI
• Coordinating with analysts and developers to ensure jobs designed and developed meet minimum support standards and best practices before migration into the production environment
• Partnering with various infrastructure teams, application teams, and architects to generate process designs and complex transformations to various data elements to provide the Business with insights into their business processes
• Using strategies such as Indexing and partitioning and virtual meta-tagging to fine tune the data warehouse and big data environments to improve the query response time and scalability
• Defining and capturing metadata and rules associated with ETL processes
• Assisting the production support team in providing resolutions to production job failures, data issues and performance tuning ETL Development and Process Support

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

 

• Bachelors degree and 5-7 years related experience, Masters degree and 3-5 years of related experience or PhD and 0-2 years of related experience
• Must have demonstrated experience applying and tailoring complex extraction rules on massive amounts of structured and unstructured data using Azure cloud based ingest and processing tools.
• Must experience with the principles of large-scale (terabytes) database / data warehouse / data lake development, large-scale file manipulation, data modeling, data mapping, data quality assurance, and documentation preparation.
• Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust Clearance.

Target Salary Range

$112,000 - $179,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
