Mainframe Storage Admin

The Peraton Leveraged Mainframe Storage team is seeking a Mainframe Storage technician to assist with all major work tasks such as installs, upgrades, maintenance to mainframe storage devices (EMC/Dell VMAX, DLM; HPe XP7, XP8; IBM DS8000, TS7700) and associated mainframe storage products that support mainframe storage delivery.

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Perform mainframe storage space allocation for DASD and Tape environments, support z/OS system upgrades and maintenance of DASD and Tape hardware.
• Administration of mainframe storage devices and associated software products that help manage these devices.
• Supply 24x7 365 on-call support/service restoration/root cause analysis/problem resolution.
• Support new client business transitions/migrations and also disengagements.
• Perform change management functions: ticketing, opening and closing changes, etc.
• Perform configuration work such as replication, setting up new device groups and maintaining JCL/PROCs.
• Participation in daytime and off shift problem resolution issues to include Sev 1 through Sev 4 incidents.
• Assist with Data Security audits and activities
• Assist with DR activities
• Mentoring of lower job code team members.
• Helps create technology roadmap for mainframe storage (DASD and Tape), working with Engineering and software vendors.
• Develops strategy for accomplishing success with projects and major workload types.
• Can lead mainframe storage projects including the most complex and integrated.
• Technical contributions and project lead responsibilities with client business transitions/migrations and also disengagements.
• Familiar with storage products like DFHSM, SRDF, SMS, BCM, CA1 etc.
• Troubleshoots major system issues and escalation to vendors for service restoration and problem resolution for SEV1 and SEV2 issues.
• Develops technical documentation, standard way of accomplishing work, and automation to help the team support the workload.
• Interacts closely with accounts and clients when technical consulting is required from the team.
• Excel in a leveraged support model thereby supporting many customers from a single team.

Education and Experience Required:

• Must be a US Citizen
• Requires 5 to 7 years with BS/BA or 3 to 5 years with MS/MA or 9 years without a degree.

 Knowledge and Skills Required:

• Assist with all major work tasks such as installs, upgrades, maintenances to mainframe storage and associated products that help manage the devices.
• Administration of mainframe storage devices ranging but not limited to EMC/Dell, IBM and HPE hardware associated vendor products that control the devices.
• Supply 24x7 365 on-call support/service restoration/root cause analysis/problem resolution.
• Support new client business transitions/migrations and also disengagements
• Performs change management functions: ticketing, opening and closing changes, etc. (Tools like SNOW, JIRA etc)
• Maintaining JCL/PROC’s
• Participation in daytime and off shift problem resolution issues to include Sev 1 through Sev 4 incidents.
• Assist with Data Security audits and activities
• Assist with DR activities
• Mentoring of lower job code team members.
• Helps create technology roadmap for mainframe storage (DASD and Tape), working with Engineering and software vendors.
• Develop strategy for accomplishing success with projects and major workload types.
• Can lead all projects including the most complex and integrated.
• Technical contributions and project lead responsibilities with client business transitions/migrations and also disengagements.
• Storage Performance & tuning both proactively and as part of corrective action activities.
• Troubleshoot major system issues and escalation to vendors for service restoration and problem resolution for SEV1 and SEV2 issues.
• Create new tools and processes to increase the productivity and efficiency of the team.
• Work to come up with documentation, standard way of accomplishing work, and automation to help the team support the workload.
• Work closely with accounts and clients when technical consulting is required from the team.
• Excel in a leveraged support model, which supports multiple clients.
