Network Engineer - Cloud Reliability

Responsibilities

Peraton is seeking a Tier 1 Cloud Reliability Engineer in Las Cruces, NM to support our Department of Defense (DoD) customer as part of a highly talented, highly motivated, and high-performing team. As part of the operations and maintenance team you will support an exciting program which involves design, development, test, and deployment of an exciting and complex system contributing to mission success for a variety of government DoD stakeholders.  Join us and be part of the next generation of innovators as we blaze a trail forward for our profession and company.

Responsibilities:

• Provide first line of communication for issue notification for tenants utilizing the infrastructure
• Support shift work to allow for complete 24 x 7 monitoring of the systems
• Coordinate with tenant to fully understand incident reported, including documenting incident details in ticketing tool, assign as appropriate, and track through completion
• Use state-of-the-art monitoring tools to gather insight and act upon results
• Maintain the uptime of a multi-tenant, multi-service infrastructure system
• Conduct hands-on, first level system / network support and problem resolution identification
• Monitoring daily software and network operations in a distributed environment (ConMon)
• Conduct system administrative actions to include user account password resets and unlock accounts upon request
• Power Data Center peripherals on/off (as instructed by Tier 2 or Tier 3)
• Responsible for development and maintenance of operational procedures, tasks and processes related to level 1 operations and maintenance of the system
• Provide support to Data Center engineering personnel with on demand maintenance to include hardware replacement, maintenance and other tasks following installation guides. This also includes new hardware installations

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

• You have an active TS/SCI security clearance with active Poly
• You have at least an associate degree in Engineering or Computer Technology or Advanced Military Training.
• You have at least 2-4 years of relevant experience
• You are willing to work in a 24x7 environment
• You have experience working with Windows and Linux operating systems.
• You have experience with distributed computing technologies.
• You have experience with virtualization technologies (e.g. OpenStack, Citrix XenServer Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization, and/or VMWare), Docker Containers, Ansible, and Heat templates.
• You have experience with front end processing and network gateway appliances and /or software.
• You have experience working in a customer environment and/or a classified environment.
• You have a background in supporting software and/or network operations with a clear understanding of networking fundamentals.
• You hold a current CompTIA Security , CASP or CISP certification. Computing Environment Certification (e.g. Linux , RHCSA, RHCE, MCSA).
• You are able to effectively communicate both with customers and technical staff.
