Responsibilities
Peraton is seeking Network Engineer to support our Defense Mission and Health Solutions Sector on the Defense Travel System (DTS) program.

- Must be within a commutable distance from Herndon Office. Occasional onsite will be required.
What you will do:
- Maintain smooth operation of multi-user computer systems and in accordance with customer's security policies and directives.
- Provide 24x7x365 Network Administrator support to include (but not limited to) virtualization, security remediation, troubleshooting, and patching; Rotational on call support (in addition to day-to-day tasks)
- Support all data centers for the program (Production, COOP/DR, LAB/DEV)
- Coordinate with vendors, as necessary, for license issues, renewals, and support
- Prepare or ensure that appropriate system documentation and diagrams exist for the System Network, including operational instructions.
- Provide specifications, operational instructions, and detailed schematics for network architecture.
- Maintain technical expertise in all areas of network and computer hardware and software interconnection and interfacing, such as routers, multiplexers, firewalls, hubs, bridges, gateways, etc
- Maintain smooth operation of the operation of local area, worldwide and virtual private networks (VPN) and multi-user computer systems in accordance with customer's security policies and directives.
- Manage the Internet Protocol (IP) addressing schema.
- Perform startup and shutdown of network components, as necessary.
- Set up and maintain administer and service accounts for Network related access.
- Manage and maintain Network component backups and tuning of Network.
- Manage and maintain the Network Security posture (patching/upgrades, replacing end of services life equipment)
- Support Network STIGs and other security requirements (security posture) through administrative, preventive, detective, and reactive controls.
- Monitor network events, availability, and performance, including network component thresholds, maps, and sub maps; Analyze and report network events, availability, performance, and trends
- Ensure Work Tickets are worked in a timely manner, completed/implemented successfully and the work tickets are updated appropriately.
- Plan, evaluate, and coordinate installation and/or reconfiguration of hardware and software elements of data communication networks and computer systems hardware and software
- Migrate DTS computing environments and workloads into AWS GovCloud environment.
- Work with other teams and stakeholders in determining cloud migration requirements.
- May provide detailed information and recommendations for Network components, implementation techniques, and tools for the most efficient solution to meet business needs, including present and future capacity requirements, improve performance and efficiency and reduce/optimize cost.
Qualifications
- BS 5-7 Years, MS 3-5, PhD 0-2, HS 9 in lieu of Degree
- Must be a US Citizen and have an active/current DoD Public Trust designation or be able to obtain prior to starting
- Five (5) or more years of Network Engineer/Administration experience
- Two (2) or more years of experience with advanced networking and TCP/IP
- Two (2) or more years working in cloud computing environments such as AWS, Azure, Oracle
- Experience with cloud networking: Building out VPCs, Load Balancers, NAT gateways, Transit Gateways
- Experience loading and configuring Network device operating systems and configurations.
- Experience with Network monitoring tools (i.e. Solarwinds)
- Experience with Network Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs)
- Experience implementing, operating, and troubleshooting Wide Area Network (WAN)/Local Area Network (LANs) using technologies such as Transport Control Protocol (TCP)/IP, Integrated Service Digital Network (ISDN), Frame Relay, Ethernet, and Cisco routers
- Experience with UNIX (Linux), Domain Name Service (DNS), and Network Information System (NIS)
- Demonstrates ability to perform analysis, troubleshooting, tuning, enhancements and corrective actions on Network devices or connectivity issues
- Ability to manage multiple and complex assigned tasks, interact with internal and external customers and development teams, and clearly communicate status and information
- Communicate effectively and present technical approaches and findings clearly
- Candidate should be able to work independently or as a member of a team on complex tasks
CERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED (Must have one in each of the following groupings)
(Production Operations) for Computing Environment
Must have at least one of the following:
- Certification in Cisco Networking (minimum CCNA, CCNP Preferred)
- CCNP Security (Cisco Certified Network Professional Security)
(Production Operations) for Security Compliance
Must have a current Security CE certification or equivalent Security certification.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Firewall Configuration management (Palo Alto, Juniper, ASA)
- F5 Big-IP LTM configuration experience
- Experience with upgrading network equipment in high availability zero downtime environment.
- AWS Cloud network experience (VPC creation and configuration, route tables)
- Remote access VPN, and IPsec configuration and management.
- Working / hands-on experience in Network Engineering/Network Administration role
- Knowledge of Confluence (Wiki) and JIRA
- Currently have /or had a DoD Common Access Card (CAC)

Target Salary Range
