Software Developer (Mid Level) (Cloud)

As a Software Developer (Mid Level) you will support the software development and engineering activities to support NASA Near Space Network (NSN) NexTEra development. NexTEra is the Virtual Network Manager that is being implemented as the interface for the missions.  NexTEra will provide cloud based services for scheduling as well as network monitoring and control capabilities for the NSN architecture.

Must be a US Citizen and hold an active/current DoD Public Trust at minimum or the ability to obtain. This is a remote/telework opportunity.

• Provides experience of full lifecycle developing web-based applications in the Java EE framework primarily and ability to assist with development of C/C# applications.
• Provides use-cases of experience in designing developing, coding, testing, and debuging software. 
• Must be able to work in one or several areas: equipment or software design, engineering evaluation or test, configuration management procedures, and statistical analysis and modeling.
• Must be able to work on a high-performance Agile software development team integrating software components using the CI/CD pipeline.
• Works with users to define existing or new system scope and objectives.
• Provides knowledgeable technical architectural support and guidance for solution opportunities that involve virtualization, cloud infrastructure, virtual end user computing, and integration with certain select third party products.
• Must be able to plan and schedule new applications systems projects with user, systems software, and computer center operations personnel, including the identification of objectives, time frames, costs, and manpower requirements.
• Performs tasks necessary to ensure the identification and documentation of hazards within software systems using various analysis tools and techniques.
• Reviews and evaluates systems and software for adherence to government or commercial directives, standards, guidelines, and criteria concerning software safety and systems safety.
• Confirms design mitigations are captured in the design and its documentation and verifies implementation.

• BS 5-7 Years, MS 3-5, PhD 0-2.
• Hold an active/current DoD Public Trust at minimum or the ability to obtain
• Possess an understanding and wide application of technical principles, theories, and concepts.
• Ability to obtain knowledge and understanding of Go code
• Experience with Java development
• Experience with CI/CD pipeline tools (such as: Jenkins; CircleCI; TeamCity; Bamboo; GitLab; Buddy; Travis CI; Codeship; GoCD; Wercker;  Semaphore; Nevercode;  Spinnaker; Buildbot)
• Working experience in implementing and managing cloud-based services with customers in MS Azure and AWS (Amazon Web Services)
• Network Virtualization Functions of applications and services

• Ability to obtain knowledge and understanding with GitLab
• DoD Secret clearance (or ability to obtain)
