The Defense group supports the Department of Defense (DoD) mission to keep our homeland and its citizens safe. We provide solutions to improve the Nation's defense by providing software, systems engineering, IT, training and logistics and fleet management solutions.
Peraton is seeking a mid-level Software Test Engineer to support the Peraton Team on the Application Arsenal (AA) program.
Peraton provides engineering services including architecture, software development, cybersecurity engineering, test & integration planning, integration, fielding, quality assurance, documentation, and sustainment support of various Naval Information Warfare Center Pacific (NIWC PAC) software applications and initiatives including the Program Executive Office for Command, Control, Communications, Computers and Intelligence (PEOC4I) Storefront (STFNT)/AA. This effort includes systems engineering, software development, and sustainment of these systems to allow their users to access, manipulate, and display relevant data for the users’ mission. Peraton currently provides support in the areas of system administration, cybersecurity, operations and maintenance, and the analysis, assessment, and transition of emerging technologies to support DoD other government agency applications.
What you’ll do:
We are looking for a test engineer with 4 years Java and Python programming experience to lead efforts in software testing and requirements validation efforts.
- The candidate will be working with the team to develop and verify testing strategies as part of a significant software refactoring and process migration effort.
- The team is migrating applications from a legacy Grails system to a modern web-based architecture using Spring Boot. This position will require the candidate to plan and implement a strategy for multi-layered testing of a Java-based web application with RDBMS databases utilizing a micro-service architecture.
- The candidate will work closely with the development team to provide guidance on how to implement unit tests and integration tests to validate system requirements are being met, particularly at the integration, database query, and REST API tiers.
- The ideal candidate will have experience leveraging strategies for testing complex software systems under active development, including the use of TAF/Robot testing framework, dependency-injection, and mock data services.
Qualifications
Required qualifications:
- BS 2-4 Years, MS 0-2 with a degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field; HS 8-10 or equivalent combined experience/education, 6 years military experience accepted in lieu of the degree
- Candidate must be a US Citizen
- Active/Current DoD Secret or Top Secret (SCI eligible) clearance or ability to obtain within 90 days
- 4 years of experience developing unit tests in Java
- 4 years of developing integration tests for Java-based web applications
- 4 years of experience developing test plans tying test steps to requirements
- 4 years of experience using Maven, Gradle, Git
- One (1) year of experience using Selenium, Robot, TAF, or equivalent testing framework(s)
- Excellent communication skills
- Experience performing test procedures
- Experience documenting test procedures and results
- Ability to provide direct test efforts to other developers and testers
- Ability to proactively identify and resolve missing test cases
Desired qualifications:
- CompTIA Security certification or equivalent
- CompTIA Linux certification or equivalent training or certification(s)
- One (1) year of experience using continuous integration tools (e.g., Jenkins, Fortify)
- One (1) year of experience using automated deployment tools such as Ansible, Chef, Puppet, or equivalent framework(s)
- Experience developing UML artifacts (use cases and sequence diagrams)
- Experience with the Atlassian tool suite (Confluence, Bitbucket, Jira, etc.)
- Experience testing applications for the Department of Defense
- Experience writing software test plans and related documentation as deliverables

Target Salary Range
