SQL Data Architect position open in the Farmington Hills, MI area for a hybrid onsite/remote database expert. Work in FinTech, with a group of developers that are committed to excellence!
Onsite 3 days per week/ Remote 2 days a week.

Requirements:
- 5 years’ experience working with SQL Server in an enterprise environment
- 5 years’ experience working with software development teams.
- 5 years’ experience supporting production software systems.
- Ability to analyze queries for database optimization
- Experience in optimizing indexes
In this role you will:
- Work with software developers to understand data flow and SQL queries in programs they write.
- Work with software developers to improve database access from their code by suggesting ways to improve query performance through one of more of the following:
- Suggest indexes to improve query execution performance and efficiency.
- Suggest changes to queries, such as joins, to increase efficiency.
- Work with software developers to migrate queries from code to stored procedures or similar constructs where prudent.
- Take responsibility for SQL Server database performance by:
- Running traces on actively executing queries.
- Running the SQL Server database engine tuning advisor to generate performance improvement suggestions.
- Applying relevant performance enhancements to the database.
- Help define and execute data migration strategy from current system data storage to a relational database mode.
- Help identify areas where data normalization can improve overall system efficiency and stability.
