GIS Routing Analyst

The GIS Routing Analyst specializes in routing of linear projects for purposes of feasibility studies.   This includes but is not limited to routing of pipelines and transmission lines. May also include Siting tasks as well. As GIS Routing Analyst, you will utilize routing experience and GIS tools including the Pivvot application to route linear projects:

• Utilize prior routing knowledge for PLAE (Prefer/Low Avoidance/Avoid/Exclude) parameters in Pivvot based on project location and type of line requirements including but not limited to: Size of pipe, kV, known geographic constraints, environmental and construction.
• Conduct quality assurance on route after run in Pivvot to create the best possible route available. Iterative process to create best optimum route and alternatives.
• Coordinate with different business units to ensure route is viable (Engineering, Land, Environmental).
• Develop and expand knowledge of routing limitations in specific areas of the country.
• Create decision matrix for route selection.
• Understanding of coordinate systems and the proper projection to store your data.
• Create data deliverables (routes, reports, decision matrix, etc.).
• Convert/transform Lat/Long Data, XY data into spatial vector points.
• Work efficiently under pressure with constant deadlines.
• Work effectively on multiple projects simultaneously.
• Perform standard and advanced spatial analysis as required.
• Complete moderate/difficult tasks with little assistance.
• Work with minimum supervision and assist other technicians as needed.
• Interface directly with client as needed including client weekly update calls.
• Perform other duties as assigned or required.
• Create SOP documentation for routing including parameters to consider.
• Train other GIS specialists how to route on an as needed basis.

• 4-year degree in a GIS related field ideal but not required.
• 3-10 years in routing experience of Electric Transmission and/or Pipelines. 
• Environmental knowledge (high level) ideal  (NR/CR).
• Construction knowledge(high level) limitations for pipeline/electric transmission ideal.
• Technical background.
• GISP (Geographic Information Systems Professional) preferred or supplemental experience.
• Demonstrated experience with ArcGIS 10.x/Pro.
• Experience with Pivvot Routing/Siting software a plus.
• Proficient GIS skillset preferred.
• Excellent written/verbal communication skills.
• Excellent  Analytical/Problem solving skills.
