Summary
The PC Deployment Technician is a hands-on technical role that is primarily responsible for installing PCs (Physical and virtual) and related hardware. They will investigate and resolve hardware and software problems, perform basic diagnostic testing and train Tier 1 staff to improve First Call Resolution (FCR). This position will work to automate processes wherever possible and manage inventory of our PC hardware.
Principal and Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Images and configures company-issued desktops, laptops, and tablets according to defined standards.
- Works collaboratively with peers and fosters positive relationships with peers and customers.
- Creates or maintains accurate documentation as assigned for all systems and projects supported by the End User Computing team.
- Contributes to projects as assigned, ensuring cost, quality, and schedule constraints are appropriately addressed.
- Responds, updates, and resolves the service tickets assigned for PC operational issues; adhering to the defined customer service response timeframes. Communicates and escalates problem issues and resolutions with customer, team, and management according to defined standards.
- Regularly runs inventories of devices across multiple locations and maintains accurate inventory records.
Minimum Education
- 2 year degree from accredited college/university in related field or 3-4 years experience in related field.
Experience Requirements
- Strong communication skills (verbal and written) are required to effectively communicate and complete tasks with customers (at different levels) via phone, IM or email.
- Strong ability to logically troubleshoot conditions via documented work steps or procedures, or ability to independently research the solution needed via tools provided.
- Comprehensive knowledge of PC hardware installation, Windows desktop operating systems, and ability to diagnose, repair, test, and troubleshoot same Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, including MS Outlook.
- Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Windows operating systems, including Windows 10 and 11.
- Experience with an Information Technology ticketing system, to track and document issues within the environment.
Experience Preferred
- Understanding and experience with Virtual Desktop Infrastructure technologies (VMWare Horizon).
- Experience with Thin Client and Zero Client Technologies.
- Experience with Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (formerly SCCM).
