Job Description
The Logistics Methods Manger trains and supports the management staff of both the corporate logistics team and the OpCo logistics teams in best practices and use of company technology to administer the logistics management program ensuring timely delivery of contract carrier managed and backhaul shipments within budget goals. This role will function as a team member within the department and will have responsibility for a number of Operating Company logistics operations and coordination of those functions between OpCos and across business segments. Extensive travel and use of technology to facilitate the sharing and coordination of information, processes, and training will be required. This position may include both direct and indirect report supervision. Project management, resource planning and allocation, budget, performance analysis, and OpCo performance tracking are important functions of the role. Assistance to other areas of the team will often be required. This position is cross segment in scope and may collaborate to coordinate loads and resources across both OpCos and business segments. Perform other duties assigned to best serve the company.
Administers the freight-sheltered income program while ensuring timely delivery of inside collect and backhaul shipments.
Coordinates the activities of multiple OpCos and Logistics Managers within a defined region to assure the most efficient use of company and external resources to move products in a profitable manner.
Collaborates with other Regional Logistics Managers to provide a strategic network plan utilizing the internal fleet and external resources.
Works to establish goals for individual OpCos and the region and measures performance against those goals using various KPI's.
Produces and works with logistics and network models to identify distribution effieciencies, reduce cost, identify backhaul opportunities and develop lanes for freight management.
Administers claim recovery program.
Ensures that loads are booked and delivered as scheduled.
Qualifies carriers and maintains accurate rate, contract and insurance records.
Conducts cost analysis to verify least cost methods of transport between internal and external resources including LTL and intermodal. Identifies opportunities to utilize the fleet for backhaul to maximize savings.
Reviews purchasing cycles to build optimal consolidations to achieve maximum revenue.
Establishes Lane Rates and Booked Freight Cost with vendors and procurement.
Negotiates contract rates and conditions with carrier.
Works closely with operations, transportation, and procurement to achieve optimal efficiencies for all parties.
Works closely with the corporate and Opco logistics team throughout the organization to find opportunities for collaboration.
Maintains data input in Transportation Management Systems

Required Qualifications
Required Education: High School Diploma/GED or Equivalent Experience
Required Experience: 2-4 Years
Experience in the Supply Chain field with an understanding of Freight expense as a Cost of Goods, Earned Income, managing relationships with Internal OpCo functional areas, Vendors, and Customers.
Preferred Education: Bachelors
Preferred Experience: 5-7 Years
Required experience plus knowledge and understanding of modern TMS applications, distribution network design and planning, managing to a P&L, leading team members in Continuous Process Improvement.
