What are the responsibilities and job description for the Fire Extinguisher Shop Technician position at PERFORMANCE SYSTEMS INTEGRATION LLC?
We are looking for a Fire Extinguisher Shop Technician to join our team!
Hourly pay range: $18-24/hour depending on license, certifications and applicable skills and experience.
Work shift: Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM 4:00 PM
This position is responsible for performing Annual and 6-year Fire Extinguisher inspections & recharges as well as hydrotesting of NON-D.O.T fire extinguishers to be in compliance with applicable local, state, federal and customer requirements by performing the following duties.
In this role you will:
- Repair, test, and recharge fire extinguishers
- Perform Annual and 6-year inspections on fire extinguisher and other compressed gas cylinders
- Record and document all inspections, repairs, discrepancies, and recommendations
- Perform hydrotesting of non-d.o.t fire extinguishers
- Add dry chem to fire extinguisher and re-pressurize cylinder
- Depressurize and empty contents of gas cylinders and remove valves, and o rings
- Work collaboratively in a team environment with a spirit of cooperation
- Respectfully takes direction from supervisor/manager
- Operate, calibrate, and perform simple maintenance on hydrostatic testing equipment
- Record test results, cylinder serial number, and test date in a timely and accurate manner
- Inspect and scrap defective cylinders
- Other duties as assigned

- Able to communicate effectively with coworkers, management, and customers, and display excellent interpersonal skills and awareness of controversial and/or sensitive issues
- Ability to comply with safety requirements of the position and actively promote safe work practices
- Self-motivated and ability to work independently
Requirements:
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Valid state issued drivers license with acceptable driving record
- Gas industry and cylinder maintenance experience preferred
Working Conditions:
- Regularly exposed to work near moving mechanical parts and varying climate/temperature conditions
- Frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles
- Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate
