What are the responsibilities and job description for the Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Manager position at Performant Scout?
POSITION OVERVIEW:
This position will be responsible for the management of the company safety program and ensuring that the company complies with all applicable Federal, State and local safety laws and regulations, including OSHA, fire codes, Department of Health and environmental laws
TASKS and RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead the monthly safety committee meetings, continuous improvement safety projects and communicating notes from those meeting with leadership
- Investigate and document all accidents, injuries, near misses and property damage incidents.
- Develop and track incident corrective action.
- Facilitate all safety related training programs including all OSHA mandated safety training such as forklift training and certification, lock-out tag-out, PPE, BBP, electrical safety, fire prevention, fall protection, pedestrian safety, new hire safety orientation, hazard communication, emergency evacuation, hearing conservation and pandemic response.
- Conduct regular inspections and safety audits of fire extinguishers, evacuation kits, fire alarms, ladders, fall protection, emergency lighting, electrical hazards, cranes, fire doors and sprinkler systems.
- Manage and document monthly department audits that ensure that detection of risk or hazards are documented and corrective actions are implemented.
- Create, implement and maintain a strategic EHS plan with emphasis on identifying trends, hazards and/or training deficiencies.
- Stay current with all compliance reporting requirements and how we are trending compared to other similar companies.
- Conduct annual job hazard analysis including ergonomic assessments of repetitive tasks and office work.
- Conduct quarterly audits to ensure compliance with any prior OSHA violations and certify compliance to the President and VP Manufacturing Engineering.
- Provide EHS guidance on capital projects and new equipment installation.
- Oversight of Powered Industrial Vehicle (PIV/Forklift) Management System.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- College degree in related field or at least 4 years’ relevant experience in EHS at a manufacturing facility is required.
- Ability to communicate with all levels of the organization and influence others to maintain a safe work environment.
- Experience working with a diverse culture with multiple languages is preferred.
- Ability to climb stairs and ladders, walk the facility, ducking, bending, twisting, lifting and squatting for conducting safety inspections
- Certificates for OSHA 10 and 30-hour, ALCM or CSC or equal is preferred.
- Must be able to travel independently between facilities.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $70,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
