Production Manager

Job Description
The Production Manager is responsible for management of the production team to accomplish the common goal of producing and assembling fine art items for distribution. The Production Manager will be responsible for front line management and supervision of multiple disciplines within their team including, cutting of prints, stretching of canvases, framing of multi-media art works, lamination of artwork, and affixing artwork onto special media such as acrylic and metal. The Manager will be responsible for management of production employees and workflow. Managers must be dependable, have a keen eye for detail and the ability to work at a fast pace.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle or feel; reach for and carry objects with hands and arms; communicate verbally with co-workers and management. The employee is required to stand; walk; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb or balance. Specific vision abilities required by this job include ability to see up close, differentiate between colors, proper depth perception, ability to adjust focus and keen eye for detail.

• Must be able to lift items that weigh up to 30 lbs and are 70” in height on a daily basis.
• Must be able to stand for long periods of time, reach above and below the shoulders, squat, bend and kneel as necessary to perform the job.
• Must be able to tolerate working in a fast paced environment.
• Must be able to tolerate working in an environment with a high level of noise.
• Must be able to accurately follow specific instructions for multiple detailed assembly process.

General Duties and Responsibilities
Employees with the title of Production Manager must demonstrate mastery of all essential job functions listed below. Production Supervisor must ensure all productivity and quality requirements for the production department including but not limited to:

• Ensure accurate interpretation of work orders.
• Ensure the production department consistently meets minimum required production, accuracy or quality standards for the work performed.
• Ensure the production department consistently meets minimum performance standards as set forth by Company Management.
• Demonstrate mastery in essential job functions including but not limited to: cutting and trimming of prints, sorting of art work, stretching and mounting of canvas, mounting of hanging devices, lamination of artwork, affixation of artwork to variety of media including acrylic and metal.
• Oversee and implement training of new and existing production employees on essential job functions.
• Oversee Quality Control functions to ensure items meet company and customer standards.
• Oversee and manage production-line inventory.
• Resolve problems concerning quality, workflow and business demands.
• Track and maintain performance metrics and reports for production department personal.
• Supervise the work of production employees including scheduling, team work, and responsibilities.
• Approve time records and requests for time off for production employees.
• Resolve internal employee issues, concerns and complaints.
• Address performance and behavioral issues through corrective action.
• Ensure that all warehouse equipment and tools are properly utilized to increase productivity, efficiency, and safety; report any unsafe conditions, damaged equipment or injury to self or co-worker to company management.
• Ensure equipment is properly maintained and report and deficiencies to upper management.
• Ensure and utilize proper techniques for lifting and handling of heavy objects, climbing ladders, and pushing/pulling pallet jacks.
• Ensure that work area is kept neat, clean, safe, and organized at all times.
• Maintain courteous and positive relationship with all co-workers and customers.
• Other duties as assigned by Management.

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited 4 year university or 5 plus years experience in a supervisory position required.
• Ability to demonstrate mastery proficiency with scanners, printers, and computers.
• Proficient in MS Excel required.
• Experience working with EAP software preferred.
• Ability to work in a team environment and get along with others.
• Previous experience as a team lead or supervisor in a production/manufacturing environment required.
• Experience with hand tools, power saws, box cutters, table mounted paper cutters, pneumatic staple guns and presses required.
• Good verbal/written communication skills, basic math skills, and ability to read documents such as work orders, safety rules, operating instructions and procedural manuals.
• Ability to speak and read English.
