Embedded Software Engineer

Job Description & Responsibilities

Persistent Systems is seeking an Embedded Software Engineer to join our team in support of video streaming services for existing and future platforms.  The Embedded Software Engineer will drive architecture and execution for video real-time encoding/decoding software and hardware solutions with cross-functional teams.  This individual will write structured and maintainable code to ensure that the video encoding formats (H.264/H.265) for encoding/decoding will work seamlessly and efficiently in our Wave Relay technology.   

Position Responsibilities

• Using C/C to architect, develop, and implement software for embedded Linux hardware platforms 
• Supporting hardware development 
• Develop structured code that supports Real Time Streaming Protocol (RTSP) 
• Utilize GStreamer to implement software on our Video Processing Unit (VPU) 
• Developing application software running on the Wave Relay® network, which may include device drivers, Linux kernel modules, network stack development, porting existing software to new embedded platforms, and other low-level programming activities 
• Supporting internal and external engineering activities, including travel to test locations, military facilities, and customer sites to directly supporting the testing, evaluation, and deployment of the Wave Relay® system 

Job Qualifications & Experience

Minimum Qualifications 

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field or equivalent experience 
• 3 years of C/C programming experience in Linux systems 
• 1 year of experience developing software for embedded systems related to VPU’s 
• 1 year of experience developing software for embedded systems related Real Time Streaming Protocol (RTSP) applications 
• Experience with GStreamer 
• Strong problem-solving mindset 
• Ability to develop create solutions to difficult problems often requiring integration of conflicting and, at times, ambiguous or incomplete data on a fast-paced schedule 
• Must have a US Security Clearance or the ability to obtain one 

Preferred Qualifications 

• Master’s or PhD in Computer Science or Computer Engineering 
• Knowledge of MANET / mesh / wireless ad hoc and wired networking 
• Possess a United States security clearance 

The base pay for this role can vary from $110,000 to $130,000 a year based on individual qualifications. Eligibility for yearly discretionary bonus.
