SUMMARY
This is a competent professional nurse, who by training, skill and licensure can deliver and document quality nursing and medical care to clients in an inpatient psychiatric setting. Administers care, observes, assesses, and documents psychiatric and medical issues, administers client medications and provides other services authorized by licensure. RN may be responsible for supervising other nurses and mental health technicians if assigned. Facility contains 2 crisis stabilization units with 30 beds each. One unit is all adults. The other unit is co-located with 15 adults and 15 adolescents. Nurses work in teams of two per shift. Strong communication and assessment skills are a must. Clientele includes the homeless population and those with insurance.

JOB FUNCTION
Conducts initial physical health assessments.
Initiates, updates and revises treatment goals and plans utilizing team input.
Administers and monitors medication regimen.
Acts as liaison with community agencies and families to coordinate treatment and services.
Educates consumers regarding medication compliance and potential side effects.
Evaluates and follows up on any medical concerns.
Attends and participates in daily treatment planning meetings.
Provides direct clinical services to consumers in individual and group settings.
Maintains productivity level and writes/maintains required records in time frame defined by management.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Minimum:Licensed Registered Nurse with Associate's Degree in Nursing
Preferred: Licensed Registered Nurse with Bachelor's Degree and one (1) year of psychiatric nursing experience in an in-patient or out-patient mental health or substance abuse setting.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Must be able to sit, twist, bend and stand for long periods. Must be able tot transport self from building to building and differing locations. Must be able to communicate orally and in writing.
SPECIAL WORKING CONDITIONS
Exposure to consumers and all possible program emergencies and conditions; to possible irregular working hours; to a variety of work locations as the need arises.
