Position Purpose:
Responsible to deliver pet parent service and grooming services to our pet parents and the pets in our care that align with our brand promise. This job is composed of a variety of different tasks that are covered by operational guidelines, and while individual judgment may occasionally be required in order to complete assigned tasks; most questions are directed to either the Grooming Salon Leader or the General Manager. Position is responsible for the welfare of all live animals within the department. GSL will report to the General Manager and collaborate to drive the business.
Provide grooming services in a mobile van to Guests. This job is composed of a variety of different tasks that may be covered by operational guidelines; individual judgment is required in order to complete assigned tasks. Complex or unique situations are directed to Grooming Salon Leader.
Essential Job Functions: The incumbent must be able to consistently perform all the following duties and responsibilities with or without a reasonable accommodation.
• Provide quick and courteous service to all pet parents by utilizing INTENT in the Mobile Van.
• Professionally perform grooming services on animals as requested by pet parents and in accordance with company policy and procedure, ensuring the safety and well-being of each animal, this is to include; completing bath services & haircut services
• Interest in animal welfare
• Must be able to move/lift animals and merchandise up to 50 pounds
• Utilize grooming instruments including shears, clippers and dryers
• Perform grooming services per pet parent instructions, ensuring the safety and well-being of animals
• Comply with cash handling procedures daily from time of receipt until end of day when you hand off to Manager on Duty (MOD).
• Follow and complete all daily mobile grooming business paperwork operational procedures set by Petco including checking in and picking up customer appointments and routes and revenue receipts. Turn all required daily mobile grooming paperwork into Grooming Salon Leader.
• Ensure mobile van is supplied and prepared daily to meet customer’s appointment needs and route. Always ensure cleanliness of van including cleaning van at the end of the shift.
• Consistently perform services at the time of appointment. Budget times to ensure all appointments are met on time.
• Possess a valid Driver’s License in the state you are working and a clean driving record. Night driving may be required.
• Safely drive and operate a mobile grooming van. Read maps, follow directions and/or utilize other directional devices. Night driving may be required.
• Adhere to all Policies and Procedures.
• Ensure OSE standards are maintained in the department
• Interact professionally and effectively through verbal and written communication with all professional contacts with emphasis on company interests
• Providing and keeping a clean and safe environment for the pets in our care in the mobile van
Other Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Drive sales by informing and educating customers of promotions and extra services. May deliver products to customers. If there are no scheduled mobile grooming appointments, perform/participate in marketing activities or work in the grooming salon to increase sales.
2. Assist in training new Mobile Pet Stylists.
3. Follow all operational procedures for communicating maintenance needs set by Petco. Communicate all needed maintenance to Grooming Salon Leader. Assist MOD in the completion of the online Incident Report for vehicle maintenance and accidents.
4. Perform additional duties as required or assigned.
Supervisory Responsibility:
May provide guidance to other new salon partners or salon partners in training or other. May also test potential applicants for grooming procedures and evaluate skills and other job-related tasks.
Work Environment:
Majority of time is spent in a vehicle either driving or performing services. Night driving may be required. Business is remote in nature interacting with the general public. Move and lift animals and products up to 50 pounds. Bending and stretching is required to move animal, equipment, supplies and product.
Education/Experience:
A qualified applicant to this position will be at least 21 years old. Either a high school diploma or its equivalent (GED) is required. Must demonstrate advanced knowledge in the grooming industry, and in addition, the applicant should have at least three years’ experience in grooming including at least two years as a Pet Stylist and must successfully complete a personal skill evaluation by a Petco Grooming Salon Leader. Must thoroughly know breed standards and grooming techniques. Must possess a valid driver’s license in the state in which you are working and have a clean driving record. Must be able to safely operate a mobile van and its equipment. Must be able to read road maps, follow directions or utilize other directional devices. Must be able to pass a background check and a drug screen.
