PETERMAYER is seeking a key growth position, reporting directly to the CEO. We are looking for a leader to build upon the agency’s success in PR and social media and grow the discipline’s client base, team, and capability offerings. The ideal candidate will be a creative visionary type with 10 years of communications experience growing and managing teams, directing the overall positioning strategy of PR plans for clients, creating budgets for PR accounts, and overseeing the administration of PR and social media campaigns.
Candidates must have 10 years of experience managing PR and social media within an agency setting. The ideal candidate has a rolodex of high-level media contacts and a network to tap for business development.
The Vice President will also be involved in new business development, operational leadership and management team decisions, initiatives and discussions regarding agency direction. This Vice President role is a pivotal position as this individual will serve as a mentor, manager and lead example on quality assurance, staff development and strategic guidance.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Leads and expands the PR and social media discipline - brings in new clients, builds and nurtures the team, expands existing capabilities, and incorporates the latest tools and technology.
- Manages, mentors and recruits a talented team of PR and social media professionals, fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment.
- Promotes a culture of high performance and continuous improvement that values learning and a commitment to quality.
- Collaborates with inter-agency disciplines, including strategy, creative and media, on client projects and new business development.
- Develops and oversees the execution of strategic PR and social media campaigns that align with client objectives and agency standards.
- Cultivates and enhances meaningful relationships with targeted, high-level external audiences, including media and key influencers.
- Serves as a senior advisor to key clients, building trusted relationships and delivering exceptional service.
- Spearheads crisis communication strategies, providing counsel and leadership in reputation management to not only clients, but the agency as well.
- Analyzes and interprets social media trends to guide clients' digital presence and engagement.
- Analyzes and interprets traditional media trends to guide client campaigns.
- Writes case studies and award entries for disciplines.
- Oversees budgeting, forecasting, and resource allocation for the PR and social media discipline.
- Drives new business development efforts, working with PETERMAYER business development team with a minimum of two significant new clients closed per year (either standalone PR/social media clients, or integrated clients that use more complete agency services).
- Manages the agency’s own local and national PR efforts.
- Sits on the leadership team and identifies challenges and emerging issues faced by the agency; collaborates with other agency leaders to evolve the agency internally and externally.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in public relations, communications, marketing, or a related field.
- A minimum of 10 years of progressive leadership experience in PR and social media in an agency setting.
- Proven track record of developing and executing successful PR campaigns and social media strategies.
- Track record of applying PR capabilities to propel advertising ideas.
- Exceptional communication, presentation, and leadership skills.
- Extensive successful writing and editing experience with a variety of print and online communications media
- Ability to manage and generate written material for both b2b and b2c usage.
- Experience with social media and influencer engagement, content campaigns, and media coverage amplification
- Demonstrated ability to manage high-stakes client relationships and deliver strategic counsel.
- Demonstrated skill and comfort in proactively building relationships with top tier reporters and editors and analysts, and in successfully positioning subject matter with the media to achieve high-impact placements
- Strong understanding of the digital media landscape, including social media platforms and analytics tools. Creative and thoughtful on how new media technologies can be utilized. Experience measuring the ROI of communications activities
- Strong understanding of the traditional media landscape.
