MANAGER, INVENTORY CONTROL AREA MANAGER
The Inventory Control Manager is responsible for the integrity and accountability of the inventory through a series of cycle counts, audits and process improvement/developments. The ideal candidate will have a positive attitude and a pleasant personality; effective memory skills; good hand eye coordination; dependability, ability to follow directions, and a strong willingness to learn.
Responsibilities:
- Plan, organize, schedule and coordinate work in order to meet production schedules and operational goals in a distribution center.
- Maintain current and implement plans, procedures, programs and strategies to enhance performance, accuracy levels and interdepartmental perceptions.
- Ensure maximum utilization of manpower and equipment.
- Ensure all processes are consistently executed in accordance with company policies and procedures.
- Perform and maintain inventory adjustments within budget.
- Motivate and manage the performance, activities and responsibilities of the Inventory Control Team.
- Understand and perform duties with attention to quality, safety and environmental matters; recognizes, reports and appropriately responds to hazards in the work area and maintains proper housekeeping at all times
- Perform and control of cycle counts, physical inventory, discrepancy research and sanitation. Physical inventories (this will require mandatory weekend work, Saturdays and Sundays).
- Research and resolve inventory and /or system problems;
- Review performance of each inventory and identify inventory and /or system problems.
- Serve as the departmental liaison with account management, operations, external/internal accounting auditors and clients.
- Respond to issues (e-mail, phone calls, etc.) in a timely manner and perform other related duties as assigned.
- Perform and maintain inventory adjustments within budget
- Motivate and manage the performance, activities and responsibilities of the Inventory Control Team.
- Establish and manage cycle count programs to maintain inventory accuracy and balance
- Manager principle and practices, computer logic and operations support programs, ability to perform a broad range of manager responsibilities over others.
- Communicate effectively with other mangers, supervisors, employees and the clients in face-to-face, one on one settings, telephone and email.
- Make arithmetical computations (Multiplication, division, percentage calculations, addition and subtraction).
- Produce written documents with clearly organized thoughts using proper sentence construction, punctuation and grammar.
- Analyze information effectively and consistently, complete assignments within established timelines, and work under general and little supervision.
- Push productivity while simultaneously controlling costs
- Provide guidance in the absent of Operations Manager
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree (B.A.) and 4-6 years management experience
- Six Sigma Background strongly desired
- 4-6 years of prior experience in a distribution/warehousing environment as an Inventory Control Manger
- College degree or equivalent work experience
- Operation of various lift trucks
- Knowledge of inventory management and control disciplines, computerized inventory record keeping systems, including Excel spreadsheets, AS400 7.3 basics ( Item ledger, Branch inventory, Item master), computer logic, operations support programs, NGS and showcase queries.
- Ability to work all hours necessary in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities
- Must possess ability to effectively speak before groups of team members and customers
- Ability to read and interpret documents; and ability to write routine reports and correspondence
- Must have ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, and volume
- Position requires good PC skills (Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft PowerPoint)
- Ability to work a flexible schedule
- Must be able to read, write, and speak English
- Workforce Planning experience required
- JDE/WMS knowledge required; 7.3 desired
- Effective people and planning skills required
- Computer literacy with proficiency in all Microsoft programs; proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word
- Ability to interact and communicate with all levels both internally and externally
- Promote fair, safe, trained and engaged work environment
- Must complete and submit a background screening that will be conducted by the U.S. Government post hire
