Main Duties And Responsibilities
Assessment: Conduct patient assessments to evaluate respiratory conditions and needs.
Treatment Planning: Develop individualized respiratory care plans in consultation with physicians.
Breathing Treatments: Administer and monitor various respiratory therapies, such as inhalers, nebulizers, and chest physiotherapy.
Ventilation Management: Manage mechanical ventilators for patients requiring respiratory support.
Arterial Blood Gas (ABG) Analysis: Perform ABG analysis to assess a patient's oxygenation and acid-base balance.
Patient Education: Educate patients and their families on respiratory conditions, treatments, and self-care.
Emergency Response: Respond to respiratory emergencies, including code blue situations.
Equipment Setup: Set up and maintain respiratory equipment, including oxygen delivery systems.
Chest X-rays: Assist with or perform chest X-rays to assess lung conditions.
Patient Monitoring: Continuously monitor patients on mechanical ventilation and adjust settings as needed.
Pulmonary Function Testing: Conduct and interpret pulmonary function tests to evaluate lung function.
Suctioning: Perform airway suctioning to clear secretions from the air passages.
Documentation: Maintain accurate patient records, including treatment plans and progress notes.
Infection Control: Ensure infection control measures are followed during respiratory procedures.
Quality Assurance: Participate in quality assurance programs to maintain high standards of care.
Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive patient care.
