The Cancer Screening & Prevention Coordinator is responsible for the management and promotion of evidence-based cancer screening and prevention programs. This includes the development and coordination of events promoting cancer screenings as well as internal and community education promoting cancer prevention strategies.

Collaborates with Phelps Health departments and community stakeholders to develop and implement cancer screening and prevention strategies.

Manages the daily operations and workflows of the Lung Cancer Screening Program, including follow up management and all aspects of the CT Lung database (data entry, statistical reporting and enhancement).

Conducts community outreach, education, and engagement activities. Directs individuals to available resources and supportive services.

Establishes processes and standards that ensure consistent and optimal patient pathways.

In accordance with criteria from NCCN and the United States preventative service task force, enrolls patients into CT Lung Cancer Screening Program and responds to questions appropriately.

Communicates with referring physicians regarding appropriateness for screening program(s) and coordinates information with referral services.

Provide updates on program activity, statistics and recommendations for program enhancements.

Recommends and implements program guidelines. Develops required tools, forms, training materials, etc. Presentation of program updates and data at conferences and meetings.

Works closely with marketing to promote community outreach.

Performs all other duties as needed or directed to meet the needs of the department.

Education

Baccalaureate degree preferred.

Work Experience-
Experience in healthcare environment preferred. Previous experience with public speaking and collaborating with community organizations and/or health care systems to coordinate activities preferred.

Certification/License-
Strong customer service skills required. Ability to take initiative and work independently with minimum supervision. Knowledge of computer systems, Microsoft office- Word, PowerPoint and Excel. Strong communication, organizational and interpersonal skills. Demonstrates attention to detail. Current/Valid Driver’s license

Considerable mental concentration for sustained periods of time with attention to detail of paramount importance. Pressures at times, accuracy, and interruptions. Must handle confidential material. Standing, walking, reaching, bending, and stooping. Vision and hearing must be good. Must have finger dexterity and complete use of hands and arms. Computer proficiency required. Must have excellent customer service skills and patience in dealing with difficult situations.

Frequent exposure to communicable diseases, radiation, anti-neoplastic agents and hostile persons at times. Works with sharps and other potentially biohazardous material.
