General Summary The Medical Review Coordinator provides clinical, technical, and analytical data evaluation necessary to support quality improvement functions, peer review activities, and ongoing professional practice functions. This includes coordination with interdepartmental and/or interdisciplinary performance improvement teams in order to support Medical Staff and ensure regulatory and accreditation compliance. Essential Duties and Responsibilities# Screens cases for appropriate referral to peer review. Coordinates, facilitates, compiles, and analyzes data, records, and reports for applicable Medical Staff/committees as related to peer review and quality improvement processes. Works with Medical Staff to organize, coordinate, and facilitate the peer review processes in accordance with the peer review policies, including Ongoing Professional Performance Evaluation (OPPE) and Focused Professional Performance Evaluation (FPPE). Coordinates and maintains the files and archives of all peer review related documents, including OPPE and FPPE files, per legal requirements. Fulfills subpoenas from the Board of Healing Acts as directed by hospital legal counsel. Coordinates and facilitates the Fair Hearing process. Functions as a resource/educator to Medical Staff as it relates to peer review activities, quality improvement processes, accreditation standards, Missouri Statutes, and CMS Conditions of Participation regulations. Maintains confidentiality of privileged information. Job Qualifications Education Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required.# Bachelor#s in Nursing preferred Work Experience Five years clinical nursing experience required. Demonstrated knowledge and advanced usage of current electronic medical record applications, analytical skills and good written/verbal communication skills, and ability to work independently and within time constraints. Certification/License Current RN license in the State of Missouri or compact licensure. Mental/Physical Requirements Considerable mental concentration for sustained periods of time with frequent interruptions. Light lifting (15 lbs.) required. Standing, sitting, walking, pushing required. Working Conditions Typical office conditions with noise and distractions. Possible eye strain or other discomfort from constant use of computer screens.
