Summary of Job
The Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office stands at the forefront of modern, reform prosecution, and is committed to recruiting and hiring talented and diverse personnel at all levels of the organization. The Recruiting Specialist will support this effort by working closely with the Chief of Staff and Executive team to develop and implement a recruiting plan. A strong focus will be on legal recruiting, but responsibilities will extend to recruiting all business professionals the DAO employs (paralegals, victim advocates, IT professionals, researchers, etc.)
The Recruiting Specialist serves as the primary point of contact for the OCI process. The Recruiting Specialist is also responsible for scheduling interviews with the DA, First Assistants, and occasionally ADAs, while maintaining thorough files on applicants through the recruiting pipeline. The Recruiting Specialist will also be responsible for tracking candidates while managing the database of recruiting contacts. The Recruiting Specialist will be responsible for managing the high volume of applications we receive for all categories of positions, as a result of, communication with law schools, recruiting events, and through our careers page. The Recruiting Specialist will also work closely with the Chief of Staff, to ensure applications are reviewed by the appropriate subject matter experts and hiring managers in a timely manner.
To support ongoing efforts to improve the recruiting and hiring process, the Recruiting Specialist may be asked to analyze information and generate reports detailing recruiting and hiring performance measures.
Duties & Responsibilities
  • Manage the full-cycle recruiting of legal (including law students, entry levels, and lateral attorney hires) and non-legal positions in coordination with the Executive Team.
  • Draft job descriptions for new or specialized positions in collaboration with the Chief of Staff and hiring managers.
  • Actively source and promote job postings to candidates through DAO careers page and job boards.
  • Collaborate with hiring managers to screen candidates.
  • Schedule interviews with prospective candidates and manage the tracking of applicants from interview to hire, in collaboration with the Chief of Staff.
  • Track metrics, including diversity metrics, as it relates to recruiting and provide reports and data as needed.
  • Build and maintain hiring files for all new hires in partnership with HR.
  • Contact lateral candidates’ professional references and lead each offer and background check process.
  • Internal Staffing: Work closely with Chief of Staff, DAO supervisors, HR department regarding staffing and retention needs at the office (largely an administrative function).
  • Work with the Executive and travel recruitment team to help maintain and strengthen relationships with area law schools, nationally ranked law schools, and HBCU law schools’ career services offices and faculty.
  • Manage the administrative aspects of the OCI process in collaboration with the recruiting travel team (i.e., support communications with law students and law school administration, facilitate offers and acceptances, etc.)
Qualifications:
  • 5 years recruiting or equivalent experience in a law firm, law school career services, other higher education, professional services, or similar environments.
  • All qualified applicants must have earned a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications is required.
  • Experience with Applicant Tracking Systems; experience with Paycor is a plus.
  • Demonstrated leadership and organizational skills, strong technical, communication and interpersonal skills are required.
  • Judgement, discretion, and ability to maintain confidentiality. Ability to develop and cultivate effective internal/external working relationships is essential.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Knowledge of state and federal employment laws and regulations is required.
  • Ability to work in a high volume fast paced environment.

All exempt employees of the District Attorney’s Office are at-will employees and serve at the pleasure of the District Attorney. The at-will relationship shall not be modified for any employee and no agreement, oral or written, shall be entered into that changes the at-will relationship.
