Philly Friendship Circle is seeking a full-time staff member excited to be a part of our growth. The Program & Curriculum Coordinator will work closely with the organization's founders, Director of Operations, and current staff to develop, coordinate, and direct all programming throughout the year. This position is a combination of a camp-like activities director and a program coordinator. Minimum two year commitment is a plus.
Philly Friendship Circle serves Philadelphia, Montgomery, Chester and Delaware Counties and is founded by Chabad Lubavitch, a Jewish organization. We connect teens and young adults to youth with special needs through a full range of social offerings. Inspired by the power of genuine friendships, our youth cultivate understanding, kindness and responsibility while ensuring a caring and inclusive community.
Ideal candidates will possess strong communication and organizational skills with a desire to work in a fast-paced, small team environment with a high level of collaboration with the other six staff members. Candidates must be self-motivated and able to work flexible hours as required to accommodate evening and Sunday events. Candidates should be very comfortable and skilled with word processing and interacting with spreadsheets, social media and video conferencing. Excellent writing, creative and communication skills, an ability to pick up new skills quickly, trustworthiness, and a strong work ethic are essential.
The Programming and Curriculum Coordinator will work directly with youth within the Jewish community, so it is expected that candidates would have a strong understanding of Jewish identity and pride. Sensitivity to the special needs population and to all youth in general, as well as dedication to the inclusive, upbeat and communal spirit of the organization are a must. Candidates should be comfortable in a leadership role in coordinating events, facilitating activities and leading workshops.
Duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to the following:
Work with FC leadership to implement and advance our mission to provide friendships for youth, placing equal importance on the development of our youth with and without special needs.
Create, develop and implement a themed, fun curriculum and programming strategy to run throughout the school year for youth of a wide range of ages (children, teens & young adults) and their families.
Coordinate, plan & implement all details of each program, including but not limited to, scheduling of outside vendors, scheduling of all support staff, budgeting for each program, and adapting programming to cater to the individual needs of the youth in attendance.
Lead interactive, educational programming for youth in our community with a particular focus on a diverse group of teens, including but not limited to, tweens learning how to be an inclusive friend through our MVP program, and teens in our leadership program.
Research and education on an ongoing basis to ensure that our organization is at the forefront of inclusion and cutting edge programming.
Gather ongoing feedback from staff and participants and implement changes to programming and curriculum accordingly.
Participate in planning and execution of annual fundraisers and community events.
