Job Title: Controller

Location: Hybrid, in-person/work-from-home environment. Company headquarters is based in Farmerville, Louisiana.

Position Overview: We are seeking an experienced Controller to join our growing team at PhireLink. This role is crucial for managing the day-to-day accounting, bookkeeping, and cash flow operations of our business. The ideal candidate will be a CPA with a proven track record in a high-growth, start-up environment and will possess expertise in integrating financial data and systems from acquired entities as the company scales. This position will report to the Chief Financial Officer.

Key Responsibilities:

Accounting and Bookkeeping:

• Conduct or oversee all accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and financial statement preparation.
• Ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes.
• Implement and maintain robust accounting policies and procedures, including establishing a chart of accounts, implementing project-based accounting, and managing corrective actions in a dynamic environment.

Cash Flow Management:

• Monitor and manage daily cash flow, ensuring sufficient liquidity for operational needs and strategic investments.
• Develop cash flow forecasts and manage banking relationships to optimize cash resources.

Financial Reporting:

• Prepare and present monthly financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
• Prepare budget versus actual reporting and conduct variance analysis to provide insights on financial performance to senior management.
• Guide other departments by researching and interpreting accounting policy, applying observations and recommendations to operational issues.

Budgeting and Forecasting:

• Develop and manage annual budgets and financial forecasts.
• Assist in strategic planning and financial modeling to support business growth.

System Integration and Process Improvement:

• Lead the integration of financial data from acquired entities and ensure seamless transitions to unified financial systems.
• Identify and implement improvements to financial processes and systems to promote scalability and efficiency.
• Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities (e.g. reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, participating in professional organizations).

Compliance and Audit:

• Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and internal policies.
• Coordinate with external auditors for annual audits and implement recommendations to enhance internal controls.
• Avoid legal challenges by understanding current and proposed legislation, enforcing accounting regulations, and recommending new procedures.
• Safeguard the organization's value by keeping information confidential.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 10 years of accounting experience, including at least 2 years in a Controller, Accounting Manager, or Finance Manager role.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting standards.
• Experience with financial systems integration and process improvements.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to communicate complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
• Proficiency in Quickbooks Desktop and Quickbooks Online accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Ability to manipulate and analyze large amounts of data.
• Strong work ethic and high attention to detail.
• Positive attitude and uncompromising integrity.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Proven experience in a fast-paced, start-up environment including developing and overseeing the successful implementation of increasingly robust financial bookkeeping, accounting, reporting and analytical practices as the company scales.
• CPA designation.
• MBA or advanced Finance degree.
• Previous Finance experience in the Telecommunications industry.

Pay: $90,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
