JOB OVERVIEW: 

This is a part-time position within the Tuberculosis Control Program (TBC) of the Division of Disease Control, Philadelphia Department of Public Health. TBC is responsible for the surveillance, investigation, prevention, treatment and control of tuberculosis in the City of Philadelphia. This position requires working in a multidisciplinary team across several program areas. This position will work closely with the Tuberculosis Program Administrator, the Tuberculosis Physicians and nurses. The Pharmacist is responsible for reviewing tuberculosis drug orders and dispensing medications. This position is responsible for ordering tuberculosis medications from the City’s Central pharmacy. The Pharmacist reports to the Program Administrator.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Serve as the primary person overseeing and managing the Tuberculosis Program’s pharmacy.

. Responsible for ordering tuberculosis medications from the City’s Central Pharmacy

. Verifies that received medications are accurate and labelling, packaging and dosages correct

. Maintain and manage Tuberculosis medication inventory, monitoring drug expiration dates

. Dispense drugs prescribed by Tuberculosis Program Physicians in accurate and efficient manner

. Perform medication order verification and review for accuracy, appropriateness and potential drug interactions

. Exhibit utmost professionalism in communicating with Tuberculosis Staff about medications

. Make sure the pharmacy is kept clean and all work surfaces sanitized as appropriate

. Must maintain patient confidentiality always and keep to the Tuberculosis Program Policy

. Assist and direct any Pharmacy Technician working with them

. Promptly communicate any work-related issues to the Program Administrator and Physicians

·May help perform related duties as required

SKILLS:

The ideal candidate will have basic knowledge of infectious disease transmission risks and contact investigations. This position requires a candidate with excellent communication and organizations skills, and attention to detail. Candidates should have excellent English language skills and ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel and Access) applications is valuable.

EXPERIENCE:

Minimum of 2 years’ experience working as a pharmacist.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENT:

A minimum of bachelor’s degree in pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an accredited college of Pharmacy required.

Current pharmacist license required.

SALARY:

Starting at $55 per hour.
