Position Summary:
The primary job function of a Glass Forming Operator is to safely operate machines to manufacture vials that meet quality and productivity standards.
Job Description:
· Capable of operating any one of various horizontal or vertical machines, with or without tooling, in our hot end operation
· Responsible for loading machine with glass tubing, maintaining cutters and glazers, monitoring and adjusting transfer points, and thermal treatment ovens as a part of the process
· Fabrication of glass vials to spec, following all instructions from factory order paperwork
· Uses calipers and gauges to ensure machine is running within SPC operating limits
· Identify and troubleshooting of defects to ensure first quality ware is produced and packed
· Working as a part of a team, keeping lines of communication between other operators, packers, QC’s and the crew leader open at all times
· Keeping a safe and clean work area through utilization of 5S practices and general housekeeping throughout work day
· May be responsible for participating in changeover events once technical understanding is achieved.
Qualifications:
-To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
Education and/or Experience:
High School diploma or general education degree (GED); or a one to three months related experience and or training; or combination of education and experience.
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
