Pay starts at $20/hr.
Position Objective: Prepare and paint a wide variety of production parts using wet paint and powder coating methods and equipment.
Flexibility is crucial. This position will serve as a back up to the primary painters and will spend a significant amount of time performing assembly tasks.
Essential Functions
- Setup and operate equipment that paint or coat products
- Select proper paint, powder and other constituents used based on written specifications and procedures
- Clean and prepare products to be painted or coated
- Determine proper equipment settings to assure proper flow of paint and the quality of the coating
- Clean and maintain tools, equipment, and work area
- Perform testing to assure painting and coating meet specifications outlined in work instructions or production orders
- Perform pre-treatment, washing and stripping tasks that require loading, moving, unloading and drying of parts
- Assure all tank/bath temperatures, fill levels and other parameters defined in work instructions are within specifications at the start and during all runs
- Utilize existing test methods to monitor critical parameters at specified intervals, adjust as detailed in job instructions
- Drain, clean, and fill tanks as needed
- Follow all guidelines regarding the safe handling and disposal of all chemicals and chemical waste
- Notify supervisor of any and all non-conformances, quarantining product or parts as necessary
- Complete all required production/quality documentation via written or electronic means
- Perform testing related to painting activities
- Comply with all Health and Safety practices including those for the use of PPE
Requirements
Skills
- Apply common sense to carry out detailed written or oral instructions
- Deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations
- Read blueprints/drawings and glean important details such as dimensions, work instructions, prohibitions, and specifications
- Operate a computer or equivalent to enter data related to the progress of production, issues with process, performance or documentation related to the work of staff or to print or complete required documentation work or the work of peers, or to print or complete required documentation
Educational
- High school diploma or GED
- 6 months or more of industrial wet painting experience required.
Physical
- Regularly and consistently required to use PPE which may include safety glasses, safety shoes, hearing protection, full face shield, lab coat, dust mask, respirator, or other protection deemed necessary for assigned tasks
- Regularly and consistently required to use or be exposed to adhesives, lubricants, solvents, cleansers, etc.
- Regularly and consistently exposed to sharps hazards, chemicals, dust, debris (aluminum, plastic, polyester)
