Controller needed for a well-established Tier 1 automotive supplier in Belleville. The ideal candidate will have 7-10 years of experience with a desire to grow into a leadership role over time. Experience in manufacturing environment a plus!
As Controller, your tasks will include planning and directing all accounting operational functions, managing the accumulation and consolidation of financial information for internal and external financial statements, assessing accounting and internal control systems, and guiding departmental staff. This Controller position is a "hands-on" position that requires a person to handle many functions that expand into all aspects of the company.
Qualified candidates will have a strong background in accounting, excellent communication skills, strong leadership, and the ability to work independently on tight deadlines. Additionally, you will handle key decisions and challenge, negotiate and help guide the company to achieving its KPI targets.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee all accounting functions, including, preparation of Budgets, Journal Entries, Monthly Board of Director Packages, Monthly, Quarterly, and Annual DIVA packages for worldwide financial statement consolidations, and other ad-hoc reporting as needed.
- Knowledge of US GAAP and IFRS required.
- Fixed Asset Accounting is required.
- Strong ERP background needed as the company is looking to install a new operating system in the future.
- Preparation of annual personal property tax returns.
- Works closely with parent company in Japan and other international group affiliated companies as they arise. Occasional international travel may be required.
- Controller takes an active daily role in supervising not only the Accounting Department but also H.R. and I/T Departments, as well as extremely close inter-action with the company's sales, warehousing, quality, and operational personnel.
- 401(K) Plan Trustee responsibilities including Review and Approval of annual Form 5500 Filings, including ADP/ACP discrimination testing.
- Work with outside legal counsel on matters such as EPLI and Patents.
Qualifications:
- BA/BS degree in Accounting.
- CPA or CMA certification helpful but not required.
- 7-10 years progressive level experience
- Strong knowledge US GAAP & IFRS required.
- Working knowledge of Corporate Insurance (Worker's Compensation, General Liability, Umbrella, & Business Interruption).
- ERISA background helpful.
- Candidate must be a self-starter with efficient time management and organizational skills, confident, and be very proactive in order to meet strict reporting deadlines.
- Skilled in the construction and delivery of effective presentations to audiences with wide-ranging backgrounds.
- Comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
- Exceptional attention to detail with strategic planning in mind.
- Ability and willingness to meet business critical deadlines.
- Strong leadership skills that include integrity, decisiveness, communications.

Pay: $100,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
