    STARTING HOURLY RATE: $18.90 - $19.76 (PLACEMENT DEPENDS ON SIMILAR EXPERIENCE HELD AND EDUCATION)

    SUMMARY:

    The Computer Lab Assistant provides technical support to students, teachers, and staff. Manages computer lab scheduling and computer maintenance. Works in conjunction with key Information Technology staff to provide hardware and software support.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    • Supports, monitors, and supervises students during non-class hours while in the IMC to ensure that lab rules and regulations are observed and followed. Assists students and staff with practical applications.
    • Creates schedules for Labs and Cart requests. Schedules the use of the IMC labs with staff and teachers. Schedules classroom presentations and demonstrations on the use of existing software.
    • Completes work order requests to troubleshoot and repair issues a variety of including network connectivity, login access, and printing errors for various devices. Manages device updates.
    • Maintains a clean and organized computer lab environment. Performs routine hardware and software maintenance.
    • Assists with circulation, troubleshooting, set ups and minor repairs of campus audio and video need and requests. Sets up audio and video presentations campus-wide for various assemblies, meetings, special events and activities.
    • Works in conjunction with key IT Staff to provide hardware and software support, including software and hardware upgrades, troubleshooting and basic equipment repair, campus-wide student labs, classroom workstations and instructional support computers and administration computers.
    • Assists computer inventory and surplus.
    • Supports the relationship between the Phoenix Union High School District and the public by demonstrating courteous and professional behavior when interacting with students, parents, visitors, and school staff; maintains absolute confidentiality of work-related issues, client records, and school information; follows Governing Board Policies; performs all other related duties as required or assigned.

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

    Education, Training, and Experience Guidelines:

    High School diploma or GED equivalent; AND two years of experience operating, maintaining, and providing technical support for computers and peripheral equipment; OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

    License and Certification Requirements:

    A valid Arizona State Driver’s License is required.
    Possess an active Arizona Department of Public Safety IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card or obtain one within the first 90 workdays of employment.

    IDEAL CANDIDATES WILL HAVE THE FOLLOWING SKILLS AND ABILITIES

    • Skill in troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining computers and peripheral equipment.
    • Comprehend the technical language of operating instructions and equipment manuals.
    • Experience in configuring and installing various software products and peripheral hardware related to LAN and WAN networks.
    • Ability to troubleshoot and operate a variety of audio and visual equipment.
    • Skill in understanding, explaining, and applying relevant rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
    • Skill in researching and compiling data for reports, presentations, and technical documents.
    • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions and procedures.
    • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
    • Ability to provide excellent customer experiences, including but not limited to interacting tactfully and courteously with the public.
    • Commitment to create and sustain a thriving learning and working environment for students and staff.
    • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
