Attending Physician - Pulmonary/Critical Care

Employed by PAGNY for NYC Health Hospitals/Kings County, Kings County Hospital operates a world-renowned Level 1 Trauma Center, one of only three in Brooklyn, which serves 2.6 million residents of Brooklyn and Staten Island. The hospital is academically affiliated with SUNY Downstate Medical Center and trains their medical students and OBGYN residents. 

Kings County is located in the East Flatbush/Prospect-Lefferts section of Brooklyn, close to the 2 and 5 subways. Our patients are diverse, with the majority being Afro-Caribbean. Most of our patients are native English speakers. Knowledge of French/Haitian Creole is helpful, but not required. 

Responsibilities

Under general direction, with latitude for independent judgment and discretion, performs the most difficult and highly specialized professional medical work of managing patients admitted to the Pulmonary Critical Care Medicine Intensive Care Unit Service 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. 

The Pulmonary Critical Care Medicine Physician performs critical care consults and procedures, treats ambulatory care patients, and reads pulmonary lab tests.

• Examines patients, orders, performs or supervises appropriate therapeutic treatments.
• Consults with other members of the professional staff, and may give guidance, advise, or professional medical opinion to less experienced members of the professional medical staff, the house staff and other members of the health care team.
• May provide instruction for Medical Students in specialty or subspecialty areas.
• For other designated specialties and/or subspecialties, performs the difficult, and highly specialized professional work related to the field.

Qualifications

• Current licensed NYS registration certificate
• Current DEA Registration
• Board Eligible/Certified in specialty
• Completion of an approved residency and fellowship in Pulmonary Critical Care Medicine specialty and sub-specialty
• Graduate from an approved Medical School
