1st Shift Machine Operator - Laser Cutter

Position Overview

Hands on operating position expected to provide assistance to the success of the team as well as acting as a technical troubleshooter. The primary responsibilities of the Operator include providing technical hands on leadership to the departmental staff. As a Operator, this position is responsible for conveying a professional attitude towards other employees while recognizing the responsibility to meet production schedules and customer commitments. Ability to set up and operate the Laser cut machine is a key component of this position. You will be responsible for knowing the proper selection of material, programming of parts, material handling pre/post cutting operations, and ensure quality control of all cut products. 

You’ll guarantee that production remains a smooth and efficient process by contributing to productivity in an effective and efficient manner. 

In a fast paced environment like production, this position is an integral part of the manufacturing process. They must be competent and comprehend complex operations. You should also be able to optimize day-to-day activities while minimizing the costs.

The goal is to ensure that production processes deliver products of maximum quality in a profitable manner.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Program parts using laser cutting software

• Inspect all materials pre and post cutting operation

• Maintain high levels of quality in all tasks performed

• Must work as a team and contribute to each other’s success. This includes collaborating and working together, across all departments, on identifying and resolving issues together to accomplish assigned tasks

• Perform equipment maintenance

• Regularly lift and move materials

• Prolonged standing, climbing, reaching, bending, hammering, and lifting

• Complies with all safety rules and regulations

• Ensures work areas are clean and orderly

• Perform other duties as assigned

Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent required. Some college or transferable experience and college coursework is preferred.

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced work environment, while maintaining attention to detail.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills along with exceptional interpersonal communication skills.

• The ability to understand and adjust resources to meet the highs and lows of the shift demands.

• Strong Mechanical aptitude

• SAP experience is a plus

Physical Demands:

• Ability to lift up to 20 lbs

• Ability to stand for extended periods of time
