We currently have an opportunity for a HVAC Helper to join our Pier Sixty-Six Resort opening team!
The HVAC Helper supports the HVAC technician and the repair and maintenance team in maintaining the comfort, safety, and luxury standards of the hotel. This role involves assisting with routine and emergency maintenance tasks, managing tools and supplies, and ensuring the smooth operation of HVAC systems.
Responsibilities
- Assist HVAC technicians with routine maintenance and emergency repairs on HVAC equipment, including air conditioning systems, heating units, and refrigeration units.
- Support the HVAC preventive maintenance program by preparing equipment and materials for servicing.
- Help conduct inspections and performance tests on equipment as directed by senior staff to ensure continued operation and efficiency.
- Respond to service calls and assist in resolving guest concerns related to HVAC issues promptly.
- Maintain detailed records of assistance provided, parts used, and tasks completed.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and codes related to HVAC system operation and maintenance.
- Manage inventory of HVAC supplies and tools, ensuring availability and proper organization.
- Collaborate with other team members and departments to coordinate repairs and contribute to team projects.
- Participate in regular safety drills and training, maintaining readiness for hotel emergencies.
- Provide general support and technical assistance to the HVAC team as needed.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training or certifications in HVAC systems preferred.
- Minimum 1 year of experience in HVAC operations, preferably in a luxury hotel or similar high-standard facility.
- Knowledge of HVAC repair and maintenance; proficient in using industry standard tools and diagnostic equipment; strong problem-solving and communication skills.
- EPA certification for handling refrigerants; familiarity with building management systems a plus.
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks; capable of lifting heavy equipment and working in varied environmental conditions.
Work Environment:
- Work involves both indoor and outdoor settings.
- Exposure to varying temperature conditions and occasional extreme weather.
- May involve exposure to dust, odors, and noise.
